It wasn't always a great year, we admit, but making sure to celebrate the little things (and bigger things, when we're extra fortunate) keeps our positivity meter filled and our faith in humanity, well, intact when we need them to be.

The Bloom-Perry nuptials become official
It was an unlikely coupling at first, but fans eventually took to the now engaged couple, Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry. The on and off sweethearts got engaged in February (on Valentine's Day, no less) after they had managed to patch things up after a tumultuous year before. Next up, a wedding date!

Everyone knew she was going to get it, but it was still one of the most emotional pop culture experiences to see a star as accomplished as Lady Gaga humbled by the accolade. The pop icon was awarded an Oscar for "Shallow," her heart wrenching duet with Bradley Cooper, featured in 2018's "A Star is Born."

It's not the kind of publication you'd think would take interest in the Kardashian-Jenner clan, but when Kylie got her own Forbes cover, it was to celebrate her "self-made" billionaire status. The magazine hailed her as the youngest self-made billionaire at 21 years old, a wealth she amassed with the help of her beauty empire.
The return of the Jonas Brothers
The biggest and most devoted fans of the Jonas brothers will forever hold March 2019 close to their hearts. It was in that month when the trio, who were on hiatus for six excruciating years, announced that they were dropping an album later that year and would officially begin making music and touring again. When Nick, Joe, and Kevin took on the stage together for the first time in years, their fans had all come back to see them, screaming and singing along as if no time had passed.
Duke and Duchess of Sussex Harry and Meghan become parents
And they're parents to a bouncing baby boy, little Archie Harrison. He is the first child of the royal couple who welcomed them into their lives in May.

This relationship was supposedly five years in the making, but it all came to a head in June when this duo paired up for Camila's single "Señorita." The song's steamy music video appeared to allude to a blossoming romance between the two, and it didn't take long before they officially came out as an item.
Ed Sheeran gets hitched
But it was a top secret affair, and no celebrity friends were invited, reports say. He married a childhood friend, Cherry Seaborn, and he finally confirmed the news in July saying that they had tied the knot months before in a private ceremony. As of this writing, the pair has also starred in Ed's music video for single "Put it all on Me."

And his blushing bride? Lauren Hashian, a personality in the music industry known for her songwriting and producing skills. The two became Mr. and Mrs. in Hawaii in September.

It was officially the "official" end of JeLena when this pair of lovebirds got married in September, but at the same time, we were happy to see them, well, happy. The young couple held a second wedding this year after a swift, super low-key civil ceremony in a New York City courthouse last year, and this time, they were dressed to the nines and photo-ready with their outfits, guests, and unashamed PDA.

2019 was undoubtedly the year of Billie Eilish, musically speaking. The teenage artist isn't even old enough to buy a drink in most places, yet she's already won award after award after award, performed at all the biggest festivals, has enjoyed sold out arena and stadium tours, guested in all the prime time shows, and appeared on the covers on and done videos for all the publications and channels that matter. Her meteoric rise to fame is credited to her angelic voice, original style, and no damn-given attitude towards her detractors. Next up for her are the 2020 Grammy Awards where she has six nominations including Best Song, Best New Artist, Best Album, and Best Record.

His new flame is Alexandra Grant, and they've been a couple for a while now but have chosen to keep their relationship away from the public's prying eyes. She's an artist and first met Keanu for over a professional collaboration. The two hit it off, became friends, and eventually, took things to the next level.

And that stone on her finger is absolutely breathtaking. The lucky man that put a ring on her finger is none other than "Saturday Night Live" writer Dave McCary, and he picked a pretty pearl for Emma's engagement ring.
Miss Universe 2019 is Zozi Tunzi
South African beauty Zozibini Tunzi won the Miss Universe crown at the pageant held in Atlanta, Georgia. She succeeded the Philippines' Catriona Gray and impressed judges in her Q&A portion when she spoke about her advocacies of ending gender-based violence and helping girls and young women embrace their natural beauty.
