It's Over! Here's A Look Back At The Beautiful Relationship Of Hollywood Power Couple Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan

Hollywood power couple Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have ended their 9-year marriage, announcing their split in an official statement coursed through People.

The statement reads:

"Hey world! So…We have something we would like to share. First off, it feels odd that we have to share this kind of thing with everyone, but it’s a consequence of the lives we’ve chosen to lead, which we also happen to be deeply grateful for. We’re living in an incredible moment in time, but it’s also a time where truth can easily get distorted into 'alternative facts.' So we want to share the truth so you know that if you didn’t read it here then it’s most certainly fiction.

We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision—just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family’s privacy. Sending lots love to everyone, Chan&Jenna."

The couple also broke the news in a joint Twitter post on Monday night.

Channing and Jenna, both 36, first met in early 2006 on the set of hit dance movie Step Up, where they’re the lead stars. Her character was a high school dancer, while he portrayed the role of a guy doing community service at her school. Despite their different backgrounds, the two fell in love with each other as they share the same passion for dancing.

Channing said in an interview with Elle magazine in 2013 that he nearly didn’t ask Jenna out: “I had just gotten out of a pretty long relationship, so I was in no way ready for another. I was trying to run from what I knew Jenna was—not someone I was just going to date.”

One of his friends talked him into taking the leap and risk on her. The Hollywood hunk narrated that fateful day after their filming: “That night, I showed up at her hotel room with a sombrero on, and that was it.”

Jenna shared her side of the story, telling Cosmopolitan USA in 2016, “It was two nights of being weird. We hadn’t even kissed. And then he went out partying with a bunch of dancers. His room was right above mine, and he came down drunk with a sombrero on, banging on my door. He was like, ‘I couldn’t stop thinking about you. Let’s do this. I just want to be with you.’ From that point forward, we were together.”

In August 2006, the two made their first public appearance as an official couple, hitting the red carpet of their movie Step Up's Los Angeles premiere together. Since then, the public had been smitten and in love with their reel-to-real love story.

Two years after they first met, the Magic Mike and 21 Jump Street actor asked Jenna’s hand in marriage during their holiday trip together in Maui, Hawaii in September 2008. For this special occasion, Channing flew out Jenna’s close friends to witness the proposal. He popped the question, and gave her a Neil Lane engagement ring with very stunning diamond details.

The couple tied the knot in a fairytale-themed ceremony at Church Estate Vineyards in Malibu, California on July 11, 2009. The wedding was anything but traditional as the bride walked down the aisle not in a traditional white dress but a peach and ivory Reem Acra couture ball gown, while Channing donned a black Giorgio Armani suit.

Event planner Mindy Weiss conceptualized the theme to reflect the two’s shared love for fairies. Everything was decorated with fairies, even their wedding cake! Actress Haylie Duff was one her five bridesmaids, and Emmanuelle Chriqui was her maid of honor.

On December 2012, they confirmed to People magazine that they were expecting their first child. On May 31, 2013, they welcomed baby girl Everly Tatum, who was born in London. As a tribute to his wife, Channing recalled this experience in an Instagram post for Mother’s Day with the caption, “She has deep strength and other wordly grace. Watching her in those first days transform into a mother was life changing. She was every bit the beautiful, sexy, funny, flawed creature I fell in love with. But the prism turned and showed a whole new light that I had no idea existed, the light of a mother’s love.”

I took this just days after jenna and I (mostly jenna) brought our little girl into the world. I've taken many like it over the past 3 years but this is one of my favorites. She was so tired. Haha. But she has such deep strength and other worldly grace. Watching her in those first days transform into a mother was life changing. She was every bit the beautiful, sexy, funny, flawed creature I fell in love with. But the prism turned and showed a whole new light that I had no idea existed, the light of a mothers love. Thank you for that baby. Saw this quote today --" The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. Theodore Hesburgh" there are a lot of important things in being a father. Who knows what the most important thing is? All I know is that in my case this is pretty high on my list. Love you cake!

Through the years, Channing and Jenna had made the world swoon over the sweet things they say and do for each other, showing a perfect, fun, and love-filled marriage in Hollywood. They became a staple couple on red carpets and the go-to pair for marriage inspiration.

One of their most memorable couple moments on TV was when they turned the season two premiere of Lip Sync Battle into an unforgettable date night, while showing off their talents and humor onstage.

In 2013, Channing shared their secret to marital bliss during an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine: "Jenna's and my thing is checking in with each other all the time, like 'On a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you love me right now?' And you gotta be honest, and you've got to want an honest answer. I told a friend to do that. He asked the question and it turned into a huge fight, and I'm like, that's kind of the point. Obviously, something needed to be fixed, he needed to be aware of it, and she needed to get it off her chest."

Channing and Jenna seemed so in love. Who would’ve thought they would ever, ever separate? Here's us hoping this is just a bump in what appeared to be a very beautiful marriage.
