The war has just begun, it seems.

The battling sides go by the names of Barretto sisters Gretchen, Claudine, Marjorie, and business tycoon Atong Ang, and they're four of the main characters in the ongoing Barretto family feud that's caught the country by storm, thanks to its bombshell revelations on alleged illicit relationships and affairs, physical altercations, questionable denials, family values, and more.

Otherwise, if you've followed this family battle since it began last weekend at the Barretto patriarch's Miguel's wake, you'll know that the latest happenings have been Claudine's DZMM interview and Atong's on-cam interview on TV Patrol, as of this writing. 

Both parties took the opportunity to defend themselves and fight back considering the accusations made against them, but whether they are to be believed, we leave up to you decide. 

Below are the most shocking statements made by both Claudine and Atom: 

Claudine on Marjorie's taunting at her father's wake that started the scuffle between them: 

"Sabi niya, 'I'm not the one who goes to a psychiatrist. I'm not the one who's crazy.' She was taunting me. So ako, tawa lang ako nang tawa. So ano 'yun, tino-taunt mo lahat ng tao na may mental illness? Dahil lang lumabas ako na meron akong anxiety disorder, tino-taunt mo ako?... Pinagtatawanan na namin siya ni mommy, ako, tapos si Tina (Yan). Tapos sabi niya, nakaupo ako nu'n eh, 'What, lalaban ka? Lalaban ka?' So tumayo ako. Sabi ko, 'Oo. Lalaban ako...' Tapos dinuro niya ako sa ulo... Tapos sinampal ko siya. Sinampal ko siya talaga. Nagsabunutan kami. Kasi 'di ba, 'wag mo akong gaganyan ganyanin. I mean, instant reaction ko 'yun eh... 'Wag mo akong gaganyanin lalo na andu'n ang mga anak ko."

Claudia on Julia Barretto's involvement in her fight with Marjorie: 

"Kasali, oo. Kaya I don't understand her saying, 'It's not my battle, it's not my battle.' You were the one who laid your hands on the person who you call 'mama.'"

Claudine on her mother's reaction to what unfolded at her husband's wake: 

"She fainted. She had a nervous breakdown, my mom. She was screaming and screaming. Sabi niya, 'Tigilan niyo 'yung anak ko. Mag-isa lang siya sa buhay.'" 

Claudine on having to talk about this issue publicly: 

"Ayaw ko na sanang ilabas ito. Tahimik na ako, especially for Julia. Because whatever people say, my heart breaks pagka nasasaktan siya. Kaya nasaktan niya rin ako, eh, parang nanay na nagtatampo, nagagalit. I didn't want to talk, kaya lang, si Marjorie, nagsalita."

Claudine on who Atong is to the Barrettos: 

"Adopted son ni daddy at ni mommy... He's been there for our family sa lahat lahat. Family friend and Nicole's ex-boyfriend. Natatandaan mo pa dati ako 'yung natsi-tsismis? Dahil ako 'yung taga-bantay kay Nicole, kasi bata pa siya noon. Bata pa siya noon. 'Yung pinagkakalat nila na si Atong at si Gretchen, wow. Mahiya naman sila kay Dada (Tony Boy Cojuangco)." 

Claudine on how the rest of her siblings are taking the issue:

"I haven't spoken to any of my siblings on Marjorie's side... It's so sad na napahiya na naman kami sa harapan ng Presidente. 'Di na bali 'yun, pero 'yung second night, ganu'n na naman 'yung away. Parang wala na, talagang wala nang pag-asa. Mas maganda na lang 'yung matapos ito. Tama na."

After Claudine went on-air for her interview, what followed was Atong Ang's appearance on TV Patrol on the evening of October 24. He sat down with ABS-CBN News anchor Noli de Castro to answer the public's most pressing questions about the situation. 

Atong on his relationship with Nicole Barretto: 

"Since nagtatrabaho si Marichi (Ramos) sa akin, kino-compensate ko naman. Tumakbo 'yung relationship nang ganu'n, hanggang  sa si Nicole naka-graduate na. Naging parang family ko sila. 'Yung time naman na si Nicole tumutulong na, siya na 'yung nakakasama ko... Malapit din siya sa mga anak ko din."

Atong on rumors about him and Claudine: 

"Nagkaroon ng away Claudine doon sa isang Castro na anak ni pareng Romy. Sabi sa akin, 'Atong, si Claudine gustong lumapit sa iyo kasi kakilala mo naman si Martin, para maayos.' Nagkita kami. Kaya kami na-tsismis noon, eh lagi akong nasa casino, doon kami nakita ng mga tao." 

Atong on his alleged involvement with Gretchen: 

"Noong makita ko na si Gretchen, noong namatay yata 'yung mommy ni Raymart (Santiago), nakita ko sila diyan sa isang restaurant sa Greenhills kasama si Gretchen. Isinama nila ako sa Bacolod; sabi, iniimbita raw ako. Kaya naman kami nagsasama ni Gretchen dahil si Nicole din ang nagsasama sa akin. Sinasama niya ako sa family eh."

Atong on allegations that Nicole was a former flame and his final word on the issue:

"Wala namang problema roon. Hindi naman tama sa lalaki na ako pa ang magsasabi na girlfriend ko siya. Kung ganu'n ang tingin ng mga tao, ng mga kamag-anak, sige, go. Wala namang problema."

"Basta dine-deny ko si Claudine at si Gretchen... [Si Nicole], may anak na 'yan, may boyfriend na 'yan, may asawa na 'yan. Ayaw kong magsalita nang ganyan. Alam kong maayos 'yung boyfriend niya, so nire-respeto ko 'yung relationship niya ngayon. Five years ko nang hindi nakikita si Nicole." 

Atong on his angle of the events at the wake: 

"Nalaman ni Nicole na dadating 'yung Auntie (Gretchen) niya. Tumawag si Nicole sa anak ko. Ang sabi niya lang, 'Pakisabi naman sa Papa mo na for respeto naman, 'wag na silang pumunta doon sa patay.' Pakisabi kay Nicole, 'Pupunta lang naman kami doon para kay Presidente. Sasamahan ko si Gretchen. Baka magkagulo.' Kailangan ko raw samahan, sabi ni Tony (Boy Cojuangco). Ang in-advice ko, kung ayaw nila, 'wag na lang silang magpakita."

Atong on Marjorie's plea for him not to hurt her: 

"Kasama sa drama niyo, sa away niyo Marjorie, wala akong pakialam diyan. Kung may dapat kang katakutan, I think 'yung family ni Recom (Echiverri). Dineklara mong kabit ka. Dapat kang matakot doon, eh may mga anak 'yun. Kung binulgar mo ako, 'wag kang mag-alala. Sikat naman ako talaga. Ang daming nagbubulgar sa akin kaya ok lang. At tsaka mahal ko ang pamilya ko... Hindi ko ipagpapalit sa masking sinong babae ang pamilya ko."

Atong on his advice to the Barretto sisters: 

"Linalahat ko na kayo... 'Wag kayong magsiraan. Pero kung ako kayo, magkabati-bati na kayo. Anyway, nakakatulong kayo; nagkakaroon ng libangan ang mga tao. Kung gusto niyong ituloy 'yan, mga artista naman kayo, eh 'di ituloy niyo. Pero suggestion ko lang, itigil niyo na. Nabababoy 'yung mga anak... Itago niyo na 'yung mga ganyan... Stop na 'yan."
