Watch Coco Martin Direct Miles Ocampo In This Trending "Batang Quiapo" Scene
Miles Ocampo pulled off the emotional birthing scene excellently, thanks in part to the guidance of director Coco Martin
Miles Ocampo trended worldwide on Twitter, as netizens raved about how great her performance was in the pilot episode of the new ABS-CBN series Batang Quiapo.
In the action-drama series, which stars Coco Martin and Lovi Poe, Miles had a special appearance as the young Marites (later played by Cherry Pie Picache).
Miles' impressive display of acting chops did not end there. Two more scenes, such as Marites' confrontation with her mother Tindeng (played by Lara Quigaman) and her giving birth in a wet market alone, were also much talked-about.
A clip from the scene, where Marites gives birth, already has almost 800,000 views on ABS-CBN Entertainment's YouTube channel. Here, Ryza Cenon's character, Olga, attempts to kidnap Marites' baby, prompting the latter to scream "Anak ko 'yan!" upon hearing her baby cry. Though in pain and struggling from giving birth, Marites manages to stand and walk towards Olga to get her baby back.
Miles pulled off the emotional scene excellently, thanks in part to the guidance of Coco Martin, who also serves as FPJ's Batang Quiapo's co-director (alongside Malu L. Sevilla) and writer.
In a behind-the-scene video shared by Dreamscape Entertainment, B617 Management, and Coco Martin PH, Coco is seen directing this trending scene, thoughtfully guiding both Miles and Ryza to execute every detail and emotion required to nail it.
