Dimples Romana Officially Joins The 2020 International Emmys As A Juror!
"Pilipinas and Kapamilya represent," she wrote
Kapamilya star Dimples Romana is on her way to the international stage!
The actress announced one of her career's biggest milestones for the year just yesterday.
"Today was a magical day," she begins.
"I was invited by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences to be a juror for the iEMMYs," she continues, explaining that the iEmmys, or the International Emmy Awards, is an award-giving body created to recognize TV programs first produced and aired outside of the United States. The organization is not limited to having Asian members or does not only recognize projects from Asia, but also shines the spotlight on members and talents from Europe and Latin America.
The very first International Emmys ceremony was held in 1973, and has since been an annual industry event celebrated in November in New York. And despite COVID-19-related limitations, the ceremony looks like it will be pushing through, but whether or not Dimples will be physically present in the glitzy event has not been finalized yet.
Dimples' announcement came in the form of an Instagram post showing other members of the 2020 International Emmys' jurors board where she also wrote, "...To be alongside these amazing industry partners is quite humbling. Pilipinas and Kapamilya represent."

Today was a magical day 💙 I was invited by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences to be a juror for the iEMMYs 😭🙏🏼 The International Emmy Award is given to recognize the best television programs initially produced and aired outside the United States. And to be alongside these amazing industry partners is quite humbling. PILIPINAS and Kapamilya Represent ❤️💚💙 @iemmys #iemmys a big THANK YOU shout out also to Sir Michael McKay, Nathaniel Brendel, Louisa Lim and ActiveTV Asia (Singapore)❤️
As a juror, Dimples' main responsibility is to participate in the semi-finals round, where the top picks move on to become official nominees of the ceremony. She'll reportedly be busy with this task until September.
Dimples, who first appeared on television in the late 90s and has been an ABS-CBN star for 20-plus years, continues to bring her career to new heights. Her latest show, Kadenang Ginto, was a massive primetime success.
Other Kapamilya actresses whose talents have recently been recognized internationally include Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo who bagged the Best Actress award at the 2019 Cairo International Film Festival for the movie Mindanao, Bea Alonzo who Variety included in their "Asian Stars: Up Next" list last year, and Anne Curtis-Smith for her work on 2018 crime and action hit Buy Bust. Bela Padilla was also tapped for a film with Korean actor Kim Gun-woo.
