DongYan Made History With The Movie "Rewind"
Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera's movie, "Rewind," is now the highest grossing Filipino film in the country
Rewind just made history as the highest grossing Filipino film in the country. The Star Cinema movie and Metro Manila Film Festival entry that stars Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera raked in P815 million.
This title and top spot previously belonged to Hello, Love, Goodbye which earned P691 million locally, with P880.6 million worldwide gross revenue.
As of January 17, 3PM, Rewind, directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, has grossed about P845 million worldwide.
A couple of days ago, Dingdong posted on Instagram to express how grateful he is for the success of Rewind and the MMFF in general. The actor also shone the spotlight on the other movies that were part of the festival. He wrote, "When we joined the MMFF, my prayer was for the strength to be an effective storyteller, aiming to touch lives, particularly during this holiday season. The other prayer was for the revival of vibrancy in local cinema, a return to its glory days.Now, as the curtain falls on the MMFF, I extend a salute to the ten films that courageously shared their beautiful stories. These films are destined to be timeless pieces, outliving us all. It’s an honor to be part of the historic 49th MMF. To our partners— @starcinema and @aptentertainment.ph, maraming salamat sa tiwala."
He continued by thanking the audience and moviegoers who appreciated their movie. "A heartfelt thank you to the audience and moviegoers for believing in the magic of movies and for appreciating these films during the festival. Here’s to celebrating the vitality and resounding success of this year’s festival—a triumphant return for local cinema!"
Dingdong also extended his gratitude to the cast members, the production staff, and the crew that worked on Rewind.
Lastly, he thanked his "leading lady on and off camera," Marian Rivera: "Telling this story is a gift, and successfully sharing it with millions fulfills a mission. Accomplishing this mission alongside you, my wife is a rare privilege, one that I believe comes once in a lifetime. I am genuinely grateful for this extraordinary experience, forever holding a special place in my heart."
Rewind's story is by Enrico C. Santos and Joel Mercado. The cast also includes Pepe Herrera, Sue Ramirez, Coney Reyes, Lito Pimentel, Ariel Ureta, Joross Gamboa, Pamu Pamorada, and Jordan Lim.
The movie will be shown in Singapore, starting tomorrow, January 18. Rewind is still showing in cinemas in the Philippines, USA, Canada, Guam, and Saipan!
