LUN8 Debuts With An Upbeat And Uplifting Mini Album

Fantagio's newest K-Pop boy group debuts in the entertainment scene with mood-boosting tracks packed in an inspiring mini album titled "CONTINUE?"

Make way for LUN8! This new K-Pop boy group has eight members一all fresh-faced with a refreshing vibe to boot. Under FANTAGIO (Astro and Weki Meki’s agency), LUN8 takes the spotlight with JIN SU, CHAEL, TAKUMA, IAN, EUN SEOP, JUN WOO, JI EUN HO, and DO HYUN

Their group's name is an apparent play on the word LUNA (another name for moon) and the number 8; it “means the eight boys that carry the moonlight of the night sky,” explained JIN SU, the group’s main vocalist, during their media showcase last June 15, 2023 in South Korea. “Like the moonlight, we hope to give you positive energy.”

JUN WOO, LUN8’s witty mood-maker and main dancer, agrees, saying, “Just like the moon [to the earth], we hope to become people’s companion.”

Don’t give up一just continue!

LUN8 debuted with their first mini album called CONTINUE?, the first of what we hope would be many chapters in the group’s exciting story. If the album name sounds all too familiar, then it probably is. The title was inspired by the standard video game prompt that pops up every time one loses a round or two. This allows the player to choose whether to continue with the game or not.

The group creatively incorporated this brilliant idea in their album’s message in a way that every song will make the listener want to seemingly press the “CONTINUE” button. With uplifting pop beats, their songs have the power to inspire one to continue and carry on instead of simply quitting when the battle gets tough.

The mini album has five catchy songs and two of which serve as title tracks called “Voyager” and “Wild Heart.” “[Wild Heart] is a pop rock song with a cheery whistle,” shares JUN WOO. “The lyrics show our confidence and ambition that we will show the world who LUN8 is.” With the song’s rhythmic whistles and drumbeats, paired with the group’s unique dance moves, the positive personality that LUN8 is trying to make the world see at the blossoming of their career is surely hard to miss.

Their second title track, which takes inspiration from a voyage at sea, is aptly called “Voyager.” “[It] has fresh electric guitar sounds, and the lyrics are about our journey and ambitions,” says IAN, LUN8’s dancer and a former contestant in the K-Pop reality competition show called I-Land. “The song has an exciting and energetic beat. Listening to it will make you think of the beach.”

In the same vein, DO HYUN and IAN cite their other track, “XX,” as what they’d recommend to someone who may be feeling down. “It’s a song that we all dance to with a smile on our faces, so it’ll definitely cheer up our fans,” DO HYUN says. To which, IAN adds, “It’s a bright song that can bring people happiness.”

JIN SU: "Thank you so much for your interest and love towards LUN8. We’ll do our best to get more love and support. Please stay tuned, thank you!"

CHAEL: "We’ve really waited for this moment and I’m super happy that you can finally listen to our music. We’ll make you happier, thank you!"

LUN8 is worth the wait

It may have taken seven long years for FANTAGIO to launch another promising boy group for the entire world to stan, but LUN8 is definitely worth the wait!

During their debut fan showcase via their official YouTube channel (@LUN8_Official), the boys seemed to be a bit shy at first but they slowly displayed their fun and playful sides as they became comfortable through the rest of the show.

On this channel, you can also find full-length and bite-sized videos of the group while training, filming, or even just casually hanging out together. Highly entertaining and a breath of fresh air, these videos illustrate eight different but interesting personalities coming together towards one goal.

Looking back on their training days, TAKUMA tells us, “I remember when the members pranked me. I almost thought EUN SEOP was older than me because all the members lied about their age. However, thanks to that cute prank, we got close much faster!”

IAN also chimes in on one of his favorite memories with his bandmates back when they were trainees: “I remember playing red light, green light in the corridor with the members. That was super fun.”

Candid moments like these have helped with the team’s dynamics, something that ultimately comes into play as they navigate the entertainment industry and carve their niche.

TAKUMA: "Thank you so much for loving us. We’ll do our best. I hope we can meet our Filipino fans in person as soon as possible!"

JUN WOO: "Thank you Filipino fans for supporting us. We’ll be artists who always work hard to do their best."

“My biggest takeaway from my trainee experience is having the mindset of 'work hard and play hard,'” IAN emphasizes, giving us a peek into the positive mindset of these promising rookies. “What matters is the direction, not speed,” adds TAKUMA.

Having big brothers from their labelmates in ASTRO has also helped a great deal in boosting these boys’ confidence. “They always cheered me up and gave me advice whenever I ran into them,” JIN SU reveals. “Especially, I want to thank ASTRO’s JINJIN since he’s the one who told me that skills are one of the essentials for the long term.”

DO HYUN: "We’ll try our best to show you our various charms, so please stay tuned. I hope we can meet our Filipino fans more often!"

IAN: "Thank you so much for loving us and supporting us. We’ll be artists who can make our fans proud!"

Living in the moment

As the title of one of their songs declares, LUN8 never forgets to live in the moment and savor each of their experiences as idols despite the fast-paced nature of their profession.

“Every moment was happy,” JUN WOO shares when asked about what it was like shooting their music video. “But the best was when we were shooting the music video for 'Voyager.' We were looking at the sea together while dancing in front of pretty string lights. I really like the beach!”

That experience stands out for EUN SEOP, too. He smiles at the memory, saying, “In the music video for 'Voyager,' there’s a scene where we all sleep together in the living room. I remember it because we actually fell asleep for a bit. That was a happy moment.”

JI EUN HO: "Thank you so much for supporting us even before our debut. We’ll show you our best! Please look forward to LUN8!"

EUN SEOP: "Thank you so much for supporting us even before our debut. As much as you support us, we’ll always work hard to improve as artists. Send LUN8 your love and support!"

Training, rehearsing, recording, performing onstage, and doing media interviews are just some parts of the idol lifestyle; going on tours is likewise a significant element. And with many Korean artists visiting the Philippines for fan meets, concerts, and even vacations, LUN8 fans look forward to when they’ll meet these boys, too.

If and when they visit the Philippines, we ask, “Is there anything you want to do or any place you want to visit?” CHAEL and DO HYUN both mentioned Cebu. CHAEL tells us, “I would love to visit Cebu. I know it’s going to be so beautiful!” DO HYUN agrees, saying, “I definitely want to visit Cebu since I’ve always been interested in the Philippines. I’ve seen photos of it and it was marvelous. I know that Cebu is the second biggest city in the Philippines and famous for tourism, so I must go there!”

“Thank you so much for supporting us even before our debut,” JI EUN HO sends a message of love to their Filipino fans. “We’ll show you our best! Please look forward to LUN8!”
