For the first time, the self-described “sad boy chill house” duo Fiji Blue was in Manila for a concert last night, November 17, at the Samsung Hall in SM Aura as part of their Asia Tour '22. The band is composed of singer-songwriter Trevor Dering and producer Valentin Fritz.

Metro.Style attended the intimate set for their Manila concert, as presented by Wilbros Live. Hits such as “Affection,” “Butterflies,” “Day by Day,” and “Picture” opened the show. More songs from their latest releases were performed as well as the crowd-favorite “It Takes Two,” before closing the show with “New Love” and “Outside.”

“I’ve been waiting for this day for years. This is surreal! Thank you so much, everybody, for coming to this show,” says vocalist Trevor to their Filipino fans.

The duo was formed during their stay in Berklee College of Music in 2017. And in 2019, Fiji Blue had their first release.

With lyrical contents ranging from happy and sad to emotional love stories, they intend to convey their emotions and things that transpired in their lives through their music. They came up with the name Fiji Blue because to them, blue is the color that embodies the feelings that they want to connect and share with their listeners. And Trevor loves the water brand Fiji!

The independent band has released two EPs: Reasons You Should Care (2021) and I Loved You, What Happened? (2022). They have also produced the hit singles “It Takes Two” and “Picture.”

The band is set to perform in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
