Francine Diaz just celebrated her 18th birthday with an intimate party. The Metro cover star, Star Magic artist, and rising leading lady一who’s starring in the upcoming iWantTFC series Bola Bola一turned 18 last January 27. Her month-long celebration culminated with a traditional debut party.
Her 18th birthday activities, all filed under #FranseenInDreamland, kicked off with a dreamy out-of-town photo shoot in Rancho Bernardo Luxury Villas and Resort. This shoot with NicePrint Photo showcased Francine in a variety of ethereal looks.
Another highlight to remind her of this milestone and something she’ll cherish for years is her first-ever fashion shoot and Metro digital cover feature. This pictorial transformed Francine from a sweet teen sensation to a fierce fashion and beauty muse, as she impressed with confident poses in each and every layout.
One look from her Metro shoot is particularly dreamy, with Francine wearing a blue strapless ball gown by Michael Leyva. For her debut party, she’s once again embracing the same kind of dreaminess in stunningly beautiful creations also by Michael.

In our exclusive interview with Francine, she shared that she wanted her childhood dream of becoming a princess to come true through her debut party. It’s symbolic in a way, as it marks her transition into womanhood. She told Metro.
To give a different twist to the traditional debut party, Francine changed up the program to suit her personality and the theme of her party better. She said, “Usually ’di ba, ang tradition talaga merong 18 Roses, may 18 Wishes. Wala akong 18 Roses—ang meron ako, 18 Bags and 18 Dreams. Instead of Wish, parang Dream siya… Naisip ko lang. Para lang maiba.”
Francine also revealed in our exclusive interview that she initially wanted to celebrate her 18th birthday quietly, and didn’t want to hold a party. A self-confessed old soul, she could’ve just also chosen to visit a museum or a library and spend a peaceful alone time. But since it’s just a once-in-a-lifetime event, she decided it was worth doing anyway.
For this intimate event with her nearest and dearest, Francine collaborated with some of the best in the events industry: event coordinator Kim Torres; event stylist Gideon Hermosa; Charisse Tinio and her teams from NicePrint Photo, Apogée event venue, and invitation specialist Print Divas; Juan Carlo the Caterer; cake maker Hearts and Bells; LSTmobile for the lights and sound system; and Always in Motion Live Inc. for the projection mapping and LED design.
The debutante got ready for the event at Raffles/Fairmont Makati hotel, and was glammed up by makeup artist Denise Go-Ochoa, hairstylist Jay Wee, fashion stylist Drew Lacia, and nail artist Mimi Qui Reyes.
Michael Leyva exclusively shared with Metro.Style that he created three outfits for Francine for her debut party: a pink ball gown with Swarovski crystals (which was worn with diamond accessories from Tessera), a Tiffany blue ball gown, and a pink dress. He said, “At first, when we had our meeting, she told me what she wanted and envisioned her dream debut gown to be. Then I made a sketch and designed for her according to what we both feel is best for her.” She matched her outfits with customized shoes by Jefferson Si.
Francine admits that turning 18 comes with a bit of pressure, but she’s also excited for what’s to come both in the personal and professional aspects of her life. What is she looking forward to the most? She said, “Magda-driving lessons [na ako]. So du’n po ’ko pinaka-na-excite n’ung nag-18 na ’ko.”
Happy birthday, Francine!
