Get to Know the Many Faces of “Mask Girl”

Learn more about the Hallyu actresses behind the mask

Recently, the suspense series “Mask Girl” has been creating a buzz around the internet. The webtoon-based Korean drama is garnering attention for its story, casting, and superb performances by the actresses who portrayed the character.

Directed by Kim Yong Hoon, the 7-episode Netflix original follows the story of an office worker named Kim Mo Mi, who also works as a masked streamer by night. Lee Han Byul, the rookie actress who was cast in the thriller, seems like a perfect fit for the role as her resemblance with the comic character is too striking.

Apart from Lee Han Byul, meanwhile, two other Hallyu stars embodied Mask Girl’s persona—South Korean singer Im Jin Ah, or mononymously known as Nana; and beauty queen-actress Go Hyun Jung.

Scroll down and read on to know more about the stellar trio:

Lee Han Byul

“Mask Girl” is truly a memorable piece of Lee Han Byul’s entertainment career as the show marks her acting debut. Netizens can’t help but notice the 31-year-old rookie star due to her features matching the webtoon illustration.

Lee Han Byul is currently signed with Ace Factory on an exclusive contract. She plays the character of the online streamer Kim Mo Mi, who later encountered an unexpected event that changed the course of her life forever.

Im Jin Ah/Nana

After committing a crime, Kim Mo Mi decided to spend a handsome amount of money for her plastic surgery. She then continues to live her life as a showgirl. Im Jin Ah, or Nana, brings into being this new and physically-improved version of the character.

Prior to acting, Nana debuted as a member of K-pop groups After School and its subunit Orange Caramel. She started as an actress in 2014, and has since become part of various Korean content like “Fashion King,” “Into the Ring,” and “The Swindlers.”

Nana also personified an alien chaser character named Heo Bo Ra in Netflix’s supernatural comedy series “Glitch.” Here, she starred alongside Hallyu breakout star Jeon Yeo Been

Go Hyun Jung

Go Hyun Jung is the last actress who appeared in the genre-bending Korean drama. She takes on the role of Kim Mo Mi as a prisoner, who was convicted behind bars due to her involvement in a murder case.

Before being an actress, Go Hyun Jung first rose to recognition as a runner-up in the Miss Korea pageant in 1989. Later on, she starred in the high-rated and critically acclaimed television drama “Sandglass.”
