Heading To LA This Summer? Watch Zooey Deschanel As Belle In A Live "Beauty And The Beast" Concert
Zooey and her cast mates are officially inviting you to be their guests!
Alongside a star-studded cast, the 38-year-old is living her lifelong dream of playing the iconic small town girl who frees a prince-turned-beast from a spell when she takes the stage as Belle this summer.
Zooey was handpicked to star in the latest live adaption of the Oscar-winning Disney animation: a live concert to be staged at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl led by none other than famed concert director Richard Kraft.
Richard, who has previously worked on the live productions of The Little Mermaid, La La Land, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, is expected to deliver beautiful results that will appeal to new and loyal audiences alike.
According to a statement he released on prnewswire.com on Monday, Richard and his production team will be "mixing film, live music, singers, dancers, digital projections, effects, and special guest artists to create an event that pays homage to the original movie but also delivers something that can only be experienced live."
"Our creative mantra for this show has been: 'We want our audience to be our guests. We have filled up the event course by course, one by one, 'til they shout, enough I'm done!," he continues.
Also under Richard's direction are cast members Kelsey Grammer as Lumiere, Taye Diggs as Gaston, Rebel Wilson as LeFou, Jane Krakowski as Mrs. Potts, and Anthony Evans as Beast. The cast will be performing the film's original songs as well as new hit "Evermore" that debuted in last year's live film adaptation starring Emma Watson.
Rounding up the classic Disney experience of blending visuals, audio and grand performances are orchestra conductor Michael Kosarin who will lead a full orchestra and choir, 16-year-old piano prodigy Emily Bear, and world-famous cellist Tina Guo.
"Performing 'Beauty and the Beast,' one of my favorite movies growing up, in a special concert at the legendary Hollywood Bowl, is a dream come true," expressed Zooey. Overall, she has no doubts that the event will be true to what every Disney performance is like: absolutely magical.
The concert is scheduled on May 25 and 26, with a special costume contest for kids to take place before the show begins. Ticket prices range from $42.50 to $199.50 and go on sale on Ticketmaster on Friday, March 16.
