Heart Evangelista-Escudero Graces The Cover Of Metro Magazine's "Women Of Now" Issue

In its November 2018 issue, Metro turns the spotlight on amazing women who redefine what it means to be beautiful, empowered, and independent!

Gracing our cover is Fashion Week habitué Heart Evangelista-Escudero who lives out our wildest haute couture dreams. The lovely Heart, photographed in where else but her favorite city, Paris, talks about living the moment every day of Fashion Week and beyond. She gives a sneak peek into the world of haute couture, delighting us with anecdotes on what goes on behind the scenes, so to speak. She shares what it’s like going global with Kevin Kwan and Harper's Bazaar and how her passionate love affair with beautifully crafted designer pieces has inspired her art.

Her graceful resilience shows through as she talks about overcoming a painful loss with her husband Chiz, and how the experience has strengthened them as a couple. Despite the heartbreak, Heart looks forward to motherhood with a renewed sense of self. Stunning and bewitching as she basks in the warmth of the Parisian sun in her couture outfits, Heart lives unapologetically and relishes her once in a lifetime experiences to the hilt!

Metro is also proud to reveal its Metrowear Icon for 2018, the beautiful and very talented Vania Romoff! Turn the pages to learn more about Vania’s rise to the top. Get inspired by her story that began in Cebu, followed by a bold move to Manila to make it on her own. Her decade-long career is much to be admired, as Vania has triumphed over struggling to find her own voice in the beginning, making the big leap outside of her comfort zone, growing her business in a competitive market, losing it, and eventually coming back to rebuild it. It is a story of resilience as much as it is of fate and destiny, and Vania’s muses—Anne Curtis-Smith Heussaff, Mari Jasmine, Stephanie Kienle-Gonzalez, Jess Wilson, Clara Aseniero, and Janine Gutierrez—narrate her story elegantly in a visual spread that provides a teasing glimpse into her much-awaited Metrowear collection to be revealed this month.

Metro rounds off the issue with a special "Women of Now" feature that goes beyond women who are known for their stunning looks and enviable style. Opening the feature are Iza Calzado, Lynn Pinugu, Victoria Herrera, and Bianca Gonzalez-Intal whose inspiring and empowering She Talks Asia Summit has been drawing women of all ages for the past two years. Also in the prestigious list is Department of Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat, who embraced her new role with gusto and unparalleled enthusiasm despite the challenges that came with it. These are just a few of the achievers on our list—women who dared to take risks to shift consciousness and make a difference in their respective fields and advocacies.

While the issue enriches your mind and emboldens your spirit, we bring you a host of skincare and makeup tips and advice to add to your beauty arsenal, because nothing can boost one’s self-confidence than having your best face forward. We give you an array of makeup trends for the coming holidays that’ll make heads turn and turn the volume up on yuletide glam.

On the fashion front, we take you back to the ’80s but with a fresher take on the decade’s style, along with avant-garde collections from local designers. Timeless pieces and accessories take on a new charm, and runway looks become more accessible off the catwalk with the season’s latest iterations.

Finally, we give you over a hundred gift ideas for the holidays, for every person on your nice—or even naughty—list. And before you turn the last pages of this issue, we look back on the recent ABS-CBN Ball’s highlights, and relive the glamorous night full of stars. A rundown of Metro’s Best Dressed List caps the feature, with 10 of local Tinseltown’s most alluring women.
