A Hen Do In Bali? Iza Calzado And Her Bride Tribe Say Can Do!
B stood for beach house, bride tribe, Ben Wintle, and body loving at Iza Calzado's recently concluded hen party!
In case you were wondering, a hen party or a hen do is simply another term for the much-awaited bachelorette's party. It's often used by brides-to-be in the United Kingdom, which makes total sense for Metro Weddings cover girl Iza Calzado as she's marrying English lad, Ben Wintle, who popped the question in October last year.
The couple is set to tie the knot in December, but before we lose our heads in excitement over their upcoming nuptials, we're first taking in all her lovely hen party photos taken at none other than Bali, Indonesia, home to some of the world's most beautiful oceanside vistas.
"Honestly, I wanted either LA or Hawaii but both are too far. I am in the middle of doing a soap and a movie so I could only take a leave for four to five days max," Iza says. "So our group decided to keep it within Asia, and Bali seemed like a fun place for us to party and relax. Thanks to Air Asia for making it happen!"
Her choice of venue certainly didn't disappoint, but more importantly, neither did the company she surrounded herself with. Choosing to celebrate her last days of singlehood with those closest and dearest to her, Iza brought her fun-loving bride tribe to Noku Beach House, a luxurious villa that essentially allows you to live your best beach life with utmost privacy.
There to enjoy the Noku experience with Iza were fellow celebs Divine Lee-Go, Sunshine Dizon, Cheska Iñigo and Karylle as well as pals Kath Oligores, Candy Dizon, Valerie De Guzman, and Mike Lariosa.
What were the highlights of this occasion? Iza lists them down:
"The shoot with my Bride Tribe at Noku Villa done by SweetEscape was definitely memorable. I just wish I packed well because I realized I had nothing super fashionable to wear (I packed in a hurry, as always) and had to make do with whatever I had in my bag. I kind of liked that it felt like the photos weren’t too stylized. No makeup, raw, fun, relaxed. Exactly my vibe."
"Dinner at Sarong then crazy Hen night at La Favela where my inner party girl came out to dance! Fun!!!"
"Mexicola is definitely a fun experience!"
"Lounging around our villa just making kwento with friends was a big highlight!"
The only hiccup along the way was the bride herself feeling under the weather, but with friends like hers, not a single second of Iza's was wasted feeling down in the dumps.
"Spent the past couple of days enjoying the company of my dear friends in Bali. Despite being sick as a dog, I enjoyed every single moment with my ladies. So grateful to have been given some time off to connect with nature and friends before the big day," she wrote on Instagram.
Donning swimsuits and matching sets of loungewear throughout their stay, Iza and her girls made sure to shine the light on her lifelong advocacy of body positivity while they were at it. They were fearlessly all smiles on the shore from sunrise to sundown with each lady exuding confidence and comfort in their own skin.
Of course, an occasion as memorable as this wouldn't be complete without a compulsory, creative hashtag, and this time around, the witty #IZAwannadancewithsomeBALI was whipped up. (It's a play on Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," in case you're wondering!) Iza shares that it was actually Divine Lee who thought of the hashtag. She told Metro.Style, "It’s super perfect because, if you know me, that’s all I really want to do in life, dance!"
An extra treat to top off the quality time Iza spent with her best friends were the giveaways they got to keep at the end of the weekend: stylish specs with the words "bride tribe" written on the temples and professionally taken photos by SweetEscape, known for capturing memorable holiday moments and special occasions like this.
As a final thought for brides in the making, take your cue from Iza and consider taking your entourage to Bali; the southeast Asian destination is proving to be a favorite for destination events, with Martine Cajucom-Ho holding her wedding there, and a handful of Hollywood celebrities choosing the venue for birthdays, anniversaries, and holiday retreats.
