Timeline: A Look Back On #JaDine's Relationship

It’s been quite a journey for James Reid and Nadine Lustre. For the past years, #JaDine has gained a huge following with their superb on-screen chemistry that later turned into something more. The supporters of #TeamReal witnessed their heart-fluttering moments—from their candid snaps and guest appearances, to their anniversary celebrations that were mostly spent outdoors. Unfortunately, their romance only lasted for three years. Here’s a look back at their relationship:

August 2013: Nadine appears as James’ leading lady in a music video

James was partnered with Nadine for his music video for “Alam Niya Ba,” which was part of his self-titled album by Viva Records. In the comments section, many said this was the first thing that sparked their love for the two.

April 2014: James and Nadine star in their first movie together

#JaDine made their film debut with Ang Diary ng Panget—a rom-com based on a top-selling book by Filipino writer Denny a.k.a. HaveYouSeenThisGirL on Wattpad. In the movie, James and Nadine are polar opposites who ended up falling in love with each other. This was later followed by more movies that starred the #JaDine love team, such as Talk Back and You're Dead (2014), Para sa Hopeless Romantic (2015), and This Time (2016). 

August 2015: James and Nadine gain more fans with hit TV show On the Wings of Love

The love team debuted on primetime TV with hit ABS-CBN show On the Wings of Love. They portrayed the roles of Clark and Leah who are also complete opposites who later found love in each other. The series concluded in February 2016.

February 2016: James and Nadine announce the real score between them

At the end of their Jadine In Love concert, James said “I love you” to Nadine in front of thousands of people at the Araneta Coliseum. That was when #TeamReal was born. 

August 2016: James and Nadine star in another TV rom-com Till I Met You

Alongside JC Santos, James and Nadine were the lead stars in Till I Met You. In the TV series directed by Antoinette Jadaone, the three stars play friends who later found themselves in a love triangle.

February 2017: James and Nadine celebrate their first anniversary

The two kept it low-key, with James declaring his love for her in an Instagram post. 

July 2017: Nadine starts the famous meme “Come on, guys, it’s 2017!”

When asked by ABS-CBN News if they are already living together, Nadine remained tight-lipped and refused to confirm or deny the rumor. “It’s normal na eh. Come on, guys, it’s 2017!” she said.

February 2018: James and Nadine mark their second anniversary with a Siargao trip

Just by seeing their posts, you would know how much they enjoy the outdoors. Hence, it’s a no-brainer why they decided to celebrate their love with a fun getaway in Siargao island.

March 2018: James and Nadine star in Never Not Love You

Fans were delighted to see James and Nadine on the big screen again for their movie Never Not Love You, where they portrayed a pair dealing with the challenges that come with their pursuit of love and dreams. It was directed by Antoinette Jadaone, and was partially shot in London.

September 2018: James and Nadine attend the ABS-CBN Ball

Both looking classy in black, the former couple stunned everyone at the first-ever ABS-CBN Ball red carpet with their captivating looks and perfectly-studded ensembles.

February 2019: James and Nadine celebrate their third anniversary as a couple

#JaDine spent their third year in an island but chose not to disclose their exact location. The two looked loved-up in James’ Instagram post, simply enjoying a romantic getaway as a couple.

March 2019: Nadine says James will always have a special place in her heart

In an interview with Boy Abunda, Nadine said she can’t imagine life without James as he has become a huge part of her growth as an individual. “For me, 'yung naging transition ko from who I was before to the person I am now is so beautiful na kahit hindi na kami ni James, he will always have a special place in my heart,” she mused. “I’m really, really thankful that he came into my life. It was so different before. He was the biggest instrument for my healing and for just discovering myself and finding myself.”

September 2019: James and Nadine dazzle on the ABS-CBN Ball 2019 red carpet

James and Nadine dazzled on the red carpet in their show-stopping Modern Filipiniana outfits. Nadine wore a red gown with a thigh-high slit, and James matched it with a white suit with some pops of color inspired by the Philippine flag.

After writing cryptic captions next to her Instagram posts, netizens speculated a breakup between the two. Nadine, however, took to her IG stories to call out entertainment journalist Ricky Lo who claimed that the rumors were true and she has indeed left James’ home. 

January 2020: James and Nadine go on more adventures together

James put an end to the speculations that they have broken up by posting a photo of him with Nadine on a hiking tour to Mount Ulap, showing yet again their love for outdoors.

In an official statement released on Tonight with Boy Abunda, they said, “We agreed that going separate ways was best for both of us. We are in good terms and are still really good friends and will continue to work with each other especially when it comes to music.” James and Nadine remained grateful for their fans, hoping for their continued support in their future projects together.
