"Un/Happy for You" Stars Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto Share Advice for Moving On

Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto's reunion movie, Un/Happy for You, continues to enjoy success as it has now reached P320M in worldwide gross since it was released on theaters last August 14. 

The movie, which was filmed in Naga, is directed by Petersen Vargas and written by Kookai Labayen, Crystal San Miguel, and Jen Chuaunsu. The movie features real-life exes Joshua (as Juancho) and Julia (as Zy) in a story that zooms in on the characters' breakup and reunion. 

In their Metro.Style interview, the two were asked to share their advice for people who are going through breakups and are trying to move on from them. Joshua and Julia picked up from their experiences and sincerely shared their thoughts.

For Joshua, it was all about giving oneself time to process what happened. He said, "Kailangan mong tanggapin 'yung nangyari sa sarili mo. Kailangan bumalik 'yung respeto sa sarili mo. Kasi naniniwala ako na during that process, mari-realize mo rin na 'yung mga naging mali mo sa relationship niyo. Kapag tinanggap mo 'yung mga mali na 'yun, makaka-move on ka na eventually.”

For Julia, on the other hand, she learned how to deal with the situation better, thanks to some words of wisdom her mom Marjorie shared with her. "Ako, I have a favorite saying that my mom says every time I'm going through something. She says, 'It gets worse before it gets better,'" Julia stated. "So when you're hurting now, naturally, it's gonna hurt more and more and more, but eventually, it's gonna get better. So it has to get worse before it gets better. But ultimately, you're gonna get better. So, it's gonna be fine. It's not the end of the world."

Now on its third week, Un/Happy for You is showing in cinemas nationwide and is also now showing in United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Guam, Saipan, and Qatar. There will also be international screenings in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Oman, Bahrain, Rome, Milan, and Malta. 

The movie's cast also includes Nonie Buencamino, Ketchup Eusebio, John Lapus, Kaila Estrada, Aljon Mendoza, Bong Gonzales, Ana Abad Santos, and Meann Espinosa.

JoshLia's first project together was the Star Cinema movie Vince and Kath and James in 2016. Their onscreen team-up crossed over into real life in 2017, the same year they starred in movies Love You to the Stars and Back and Unexpectedly Yours. A year later, they worked on their first primetime TV series, Ngayon at Kailanman. On the big screen, they also teamed up for I Love You, Hater (2018) and Block Z (2020). In 2021, Joshua and Julia starred in the music video of Moira dela Torre's "Paubaya."
