People Are Convinced These Photos Are Proof Of Julia Barretto And Gerald Anderson's Relationship

It's been more than a year since the story made headlines and yet the question remains: are "Between Maybes" co-stars Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson a couple or aren't they? 

Despite being two of the most high-profile celebrities in the country, they've managed to keep their relationship status on the down low—save for a few Instagram photos that might or might not be Easter eggs that only the most experienced of Internet sleuths can decode.  

We're rounding up the cryptic posts below and maybe these can tell if Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson are a couple or not!

It all starts from a photo posted almost a year ago. It was Julia's 23rd birthday in March 10 of last year. And while she and her family are used to going big and all out on special occasions like this, she chose to spend the day intimately and quietly at home. Her Instagram post—and caption—hinted at a special someone joining her and her family for the small gathering. She writes, "For my birthday this year I decided to do things differently. A dinner for 10, my family and a loved one. And today, I woke up fuller than ever. Thank You Jesus ♥️" Take note that she wrote "...and a loved one."

It was quiet for a long time, thanks to a nationwide lockdown declared just days after her birthday, but when the rumor mill hit, it hit hard. In September, former newscaster and talk show host Jay Sonza claimed that Julia is carrying Gerald's baby and that they were unequivocally in love and a couple. She responded with a closeup shot of her sexy, "no baby here" abs, captioning her post with "FAKE NEWS :)" Gerald didn't respond.

The following month, Julia posted a photo that seems to have been taken in Hayati Private Resort, a property in Zambales that Gerald owns. Netizens connected the dots, and concluded that Julia indeed visited the said resort with her family since her mom Marjorie Barretto also posted some photos from a quick escape around the same time.

In November, Julia was out and about on a hiking trip in Rizal with a handful of unnamed companions. There wouldn't have been anything to take a closer look at here, only, Gerald's brother Ken posted photos and a video from the exact same location two days before Julia shared her own photo. People were convinced they were definitely on the trip together. Once again, the pair didn't respond to the speculation. 

Come December, an accessory Julia choose to wear raised even more eyebrows. She posted a photo of herself wearing a "G" pendant. The post's comment section was, of course, flooded with shippers and bashers alike but the actress kept her silence about what the G stood for. 

And finally, in January, Julia shared a photo of an adorable new addition to her life: a St. Bernard puppy, only, the photo of her new puppy was taken on a car ride home with a mystery man in the driver's seat next to her. The only thing visible in the photo is his arm, but that was enough to send netizens into a frenzy about who it could be since Gerald is known for being "balbon."

Then, recently, in a vlog on Aiko Melendez's YouTube channel, talent manager/comedian/vlogger Ogie Diaz commented, "Feeling ko si Gerald at si Julia na. Kasi maraming mga patotoo. So feeling ko, sa naglalabasan lang tulad ng mga kamay na balbon, hindi pinapakita kasi sa mga shot. Tapos kamay ni Julia, pinapakita yung kamay pero hindi yung mukha. So parang pinagtagpi tagpi iyon ng mga netizens. So magkasama sila palagi so feeling ko. Eh pumunta na rin yung pamilya ni Julia Barretto dun sa resort sa Zambales ni Gerald di ba? So naniniwala ako na sila na."

Gerald has been a lot more quiet about the issue. His social media activity has been limited to official work promos and just a few photos of him here and there. He's posted content from Between Maybes, his 2019 film with Julia, in time for its Netflix debut in December, but that's pretty much been it for Gerald.
