The Cast of "The Glory" and Where You May Have Seen Them Before
Get to know the main cast of the revenge-driven series through their past projects
Who doesn't love a spine-chilling, blood-curdling revenge drama? The buzzworthy Netflix original K-drama The Glory gives its viewers just that.
Top-billed by none other than Hallyu A-lister Song Hye Kyo, the vengeance-packed series follows the tale of a poverty-stricken, ill-treated high school girl who grew up plotting revenge upon her perpetrators. It’s payback time as the story’s centerpiece, Moon Dong Eun, premeditated a scheme to avenge her younger self (played by Jung Ji So).

What started out as bullying has turned into a vicious cycle of soul-smearing, leaving Dong Eun anger-fueled for the rest of her teenage years. The “dream” of getting back at the group of power-hungry bullies has become her North Star, leading her to a direction that none of her abusers were ever ready for. Played by a seasoned ensemble, the characters of The Glory are sure to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
The K-drama's Part 1 was released last December 30, 2022, and the Part 2 is set for a March 10, 2023 release. Both parts feature eight episode each. The Glory is directed by Ahn Gil Ho (Happiness, Record of Youth, Memories of the Alhambra) and written by Kim Eun Sook (The King: Eternal Monarch, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, and Descendants of the Sun).

Yeom Hye Ran as Kang Hyun Nam
Yeom Hye Ran initially worked as a theater actress prior to becoming an onscreen actor. In 1999, she started her career in the theater industry and continued until she landed a silver screen project in 2003 via "Memories of Murder." Her first television role in "Dear Friends," however, came in a little late. It was in 2016 when she was able to secure it and since then, she has appeared in numerous Korean films and TV dramas including “The K2,” “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God,” “Queen for Seven Days,” “Prison Playbook,” ”Live,” ”Lawless Lawyer,” ”Life,” ”When the Camellia Blooms,” ”Chocolate,” ”Mystic Pop-Up Bar,” and “The Uncanny Counter.” Now, bringing her character Kang Hyun Nam to life, who is Moon Dong Eun’s accomplice in “The Glory,” she adds a comic relief to the dark and vengeance-filled nature of the series.

Cha Joo Young as Choi Hye Jeong
While most of her friends hail from filthy-rich origins, the family of Cha Joo Young's character, Choi Hye Jeong, is not so well-off. In high school, she would always be at the beck and call of Park Yeon Jin (Lim Ji Yeon) and their friends to avoid being shamed for her social status. A present-day flight attendant, she usually dates older men to get what she wants in terms of financial well-being. Cha Joo Young, the actress who plays this character, appeared in K-dramas like “Cheese in the Trap,” “The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop,“ “Love in the Moonlight,“ “Wok of Love,“ “The Spies Who Loved Me,” “Chimera,“ and “Again My Life.“

Kim Gun Woo as Son Myeong Oh
Kim Gun Woo’s first acting stint was no picnic as he was cast alongside celebrated actor Park Seo Joon. In the series “Fight My Way,” he portrayed the role of a martial artist who happens to be PSJ’s character’s ultimate rival in the show. The year after, he took on another Korean drama titled “Live.” As a K-arts alumnus, Kim Gun Woo is a genius worth shining the spotlight on. Before landing the role of the happy-go-lucky and callous Son Myeong Oh in the revenge series “The Glory,” he also starred in the 2018 thriller series “Less Than Evil,” crime offering “Catch the Ghost,” and youth-oriented TV show “Record of Youth.” The South Korean actor also starred as one of the leads in the film “Ultimate Oppa” alongside “Descendants of the Sun” star Jasper Cho and Filipina actress Bela Padilla.

Kim Hieora as Lee Sa Ra
Prior to “The Glory,” rising South Korean actress and singer Kim Hieora made an appearance in the well-received Netflix legal series “Extraordinary Attorney Woo.” Through her stellar performance in the show, she had made headlines and became an overnight sensation. Alongside her fellow “The Glory” cast Jung Sung Il, she also personified a character in the dramedy thriller series “Bad and Crazy.” Kim Hieora now embodies Lee Sa Ra, a substance-dependent visual artist and church pastor daughter who usually buys drugs from her long-time friend, Son Myeong Oh. Her character is among the ruthless high-schoolers who violently attacked Moon Dong Eun in the past. Kim Hieora's dossier includes stintsin K-dramas like "Beyond Evil," "Hospital Playlist 2," "Forecasting Love and Weather," and "Bad Prosecutor."

Park Sung Hoon as Jeon Jae Jun
Since Park Sung Hoon’s acting career started in 2006, he has appeared in numerous big and small screen dramas. The K-dramas he starred in are "My Only One," "Justice," "Psychopath Diary," "Into the Ring," and "Joseon Exorcist." In 2018, the actor was also cast in the found footage horror-mystery film “Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.” Now taking on the persona of a maniac in “The Glory,” Park Sung Hoon plays the character of Jae Jun, a wealthy golf club heir who used to be one of Moon Dong Eun’s bullies back in high school. Jae Jun is secretly in love with the leader of the bully pack, weather forecaster Park Yeon Jin.

Jung Sung Il as Ha Do Young
In “The Glory,” theater actor and television personality Jung Sung Il portrays the character of a construction company Chief Executive Officer Ha Do Young, who is also Park Yeon Jin’s husband and Moon Dong Eun’s fellow Go player. Before his TV career prospered, Jung Sung Il initially appeared in the theatrical production “A Praise of Youth,” marking his debut as a professional actor. After his multiple acting chops in theater, he waltzed his way into the industry via the film “A Frozen Flower.” He has also taken part in acclaimed movies such as “The Con Artists,” “The Chase,” and “Project Wolf Hunting.” In 2009, he glided into the small screen through his first drama “The Return of Iljimae,” and had stints in hit Korean dramas namely “Woman of 9.9 Billion,” “Birthcare Center,” “Bad and Crazy,” ”Moonshine,” and ”Our Blues.”

Lim Ji Yeon as Park Yeon Jin
South Korean actress Lim Ji Yeon is an industry old-timer who has been in the Korean entertainment sphere for almost a decade now. Having graduated from the Korean National University of Arts, a prestigious arts institution, she is undoubtedly a must-not-miss stage and screen talent. Her first acting break came about through a 2014 erotic romance film titled “Obsessed,” earning her recognitions and Grand Bell Awards and Baeksang Arts Awards nominations along the way. She then starred in another daring period movie called “The Treacherous,” which is followed by a slew of TV series such as “The Royal Gambler,” “Blow Breeze,” and “Welcome 2 Life.” Lim Ji Yeon was also part of the films “Tazza: One-Eyed Jack” and “Spiritwalker.” Prior to her villain role in “The Glory,” she played the character of Seoul in another Netflix offering: “Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area.”

Lee Do Hyun as Joo Yeo Jeong
Lee Do Hyun debuted as an actor in 2017, but his heartthrob reputation has been cemented since his reign in the 2020 Korean drama “18 Again.” Looking back, he spent two years in training before being cast in his first supporting role in “Prison Playbook,” where his talent was first showcased. He, too, took on several small screen projects including “Still 17,” “Clean With Passion for Now,” and “Hotel Del Luna,” where he appeared to have more screen time. He then landed “18 Again,” in which he portrayed his first-ever lead character. A year later, he won a Baeksang Best new Actor award for his performance in the said show. Do Hyun starred in “Youth of May” and “Melancholia” as well, appropriating another leading-man status. Prior to “The Glory,” he was seen in the web series “Sweet Home” and “Reincarnation Love.” This year, Do Hyun is also set to play as a lead in the upcoming television show “The Good Bad Mother.”

Song Hye Kyo as Moon Dong Eun
A household name that needs no introduction, Song Hye Kyo takes on another exciting role as Moon Dong Eun in the revenge thriller “The Glory.” As a victim of bullying and school violence and harassment, her character has learned to toughen up her outer shell and vowed to never be walked over again. Moon Dong Eun pursued college and persevered until she became a grade school teacher, and executed her vengeance right after. Best known for the blockbuster movie “My Girl and I” and the hit series “Autumn in My Heart” and “Full House,” Song Hye Kyo skyrocketed to stardom. She also starred in “Descendants of the Sun,” which is considered as one of the highest-rated TV content in the history of Korean dramas. Her other K-dramas are "All In," "Worlds Within," "That Winter, The Wind Blows," "Encounter," and "Now, We Are Breaking Up."
