Katarina Rodriguez: "I Hope To Join Again For A Different Crown"
Philippine representative, Miss Intercontinental 2017 first runner-up Katarina Rodriguez, is back in Manila after competing for the coveted beauty title in Egypt last January 24.
Katarina was a crowd favorite in the competition, having done a great job in every category. During the coronation night, she continued her impressive streak, most especially at the dreaded Q&A portion. She delivered a confident and cohesive answer to the question: "What is the most important thing that you have learned about participating in Miss Intercontinental?"
Unfortunately, the beauty queen was only declared the first runner-up, next to Miss Mexico, Veronica Salas Vallejo, who was hailed as the Miss Intercontinental 2017.
Last Tuesday, Katarina arrived in the country, still proudly wearing the sash of the Philippines, and seemingly refreshed and rejuvenated from her trip in Egypt. After the coronation night, she decided to stay a bit longer to see and experience more of that destination.
"I did everything right, I was always dressed appropriately... I practiced ... 'Yong Q&A (question and answer) ko, that's my forte so I did expect [to win], yes," says Katarina in an interview on ABS-CBN News. "Nothing at all I could have done differently. It's just, that's the way it is."
Although she didn't win, she has nothing but love and respect for Miss Mexico, saying, "She's a very, very, very lovely person."
Katarina earned the respect of many, who admired how gracious she is about the result of the competition. Truth be told, she doesn't need a crown to be an inspiration. Her beauty, confidence, and great personality are enough reasons for her to gain a lot of followers, who are hoping the beauty queen gives pageantry another try.
That may not be far from happening after all as she was quoted saying, "Sana I could join Binibini again for a different crown."
