The comeback series of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, 2 Good 2 Be True, is finally here! The reel- and real-life couple made local showbiz history, as their much-awaited small screen comeback premiered on Friday, May 13, via Netflix.

We’ve truly missed that signature KathNiel kilig! And despite the loveteam being around for a decade now, their chemistry is still unparalleled.

The ABS-CBN drama is the first Philippine series to premiere and broadcast current episodes on the streaming platform.

In the series, “Supreme Idol of This Generation” Daniel Padilla plays the role of Elorde “Eloy” Borja, an auto mechanic who dreams of becoming a lawyer, an ambition seemingly inspired by his convicted father (played by Romnick Sarmienta). Although a “mambubudol” or swindler, Eloy has a big heart for his family, friends, and community.

Meanwhile, “Asia’s Superstar” Kathryn Bernardo breathes life into the character of Alisson “Ali” Fajardo, a bubbly nurse who dreams of becoming a doctor. A “raketera” or someone who juggles different jobs, Ali also works as a personal nurse.

Kathryn and Daniel, whose love team is being looked up to by both seasoned talents in showbiz and fresh faces alike, have grown so acclimatized to each other that each scene together only flows organically and fluidly without having to force their way into people’s hearts.

Both stars reaped praises from the 2G2BT cast members not only for their prowess in acting but also for the professionalism and pleasant personalities they remain to be known for through the years.

“They’re adults now. Magka-love team pa rin—sweet, sweet, sweet,” former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz (as Helena Agcaoili) says, following it with a tease. “[Naka]kainggit!”

On the other hand, Ronaldo Valdez (as Lolo Hugo Agcaoili), who has witnessed firsthand the tandem’s warmth on set, shares: “Kung tatanungin ako kung ano’ng kaibahan nitong project na ito sa mga nagawa ko nang iba, ’yung KathNniel—’yun ang kaibahan. Naku, napaka... Ang babait niyang mga ’yan, napaka-sweet.”

Actress Irma Adlawan (as Heart Borja) also talked about Daniel’s development throughout the decade. “The maturity has come in, truly,” she shares. Her keenness to work with the primetime actor is something that she announces with pride, too. “The scenes that we have done—me and Daniel—come very natural, and I love that. It doesn’t sound like we memorized it. It does not sound like it came from somebody else’s mouth but ours.”

Similarly, to talk about Kathryn’s humility despite her stardom, actor Cris Villanueva (as Captain Rosales) notes: “Hindi mo ma-fi-feel na superstar siya kasi seryosong-seryoso siyang ginagawa ’yung trabaho na pantay kayo, basta nasa set, so I like that kasi when you’re an actor, you don’t feel intimidated or parang mas mababa ’yung role mo. I like that very much with Kath.”

Another powerhouse actress in the series, Gelli de Belen (who plays the role of Kathryn’s mom in the series, Margie Fajardo), has nothing but great things to say about Kathryn and Daniel: “They love their work. It’s all about the work. Gusto nila kung ano’ng gagawin nila, maganda. They’re very particular with that and parang talagang ibinubuhos nila ang lahat-lahat nila sa trabaho, and that’s why they’re still around,” she declares.

Gelli recognized, too, how Kathryn evolved from the reserved type to the confident woman she currently is. “Parang ang shy niya nu’ng una eh, pero ngayon, she came out of her shell and ang gaan niyang kasama. Ang gaan niyang ka-trabaho.”

Finally, as encapsulated by Romnick Sarmienta, he thinks that the duo has an essential ingredient behind their success and superstar status: “Ako, sa tingin ko, isa lang naman ang dahilan para mamalagi at manatili ’yung pagsasama nila at ’yung pamamayagpag nila bilang KathNiel: authenticity. It’s always the root of all things.”

KathNiel was last seen in a teleserye together via La Luna Sangre which aired from June 2017-March 2018.

2 Good 2 Be True is produced by the RGE Drama Unit and directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar. The cast also includes Smokey Manaloto, Matt Evans, Jenny Miller, Yves Flores, Pamu Pamorada, Gillian Vicencio, Kristel Fulgar, Bianca de Vera, and Alyssa Muhlach.

Aside from Netflix, 2 Good 2 Be True will also be aired on ABS-CBN platforms starting May 16: Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, Jeepney TV, TV5, iWantTFC, and TFC.
