The comments section of her post was quickly flooded with congratulatory messages from local celebrities and influencers. Her boyfriend, Conor Dwyer, also left a comment, saying that he's so proud of Kelsey. Victoria's Secret's official Instagram account also commented on her post.

Kelsey Merritt's first solo magazine cover was for Metro magazine's Philippine Fashion Issue in June 2015, where she got to collaborate with former Metro editor-in-chief Sarah Meier, creative director Eldzs Mejia, photographer BJ Pascual, makeup artist Anthea Bueno, and hairstylist Aries Manal. Eldzs shared that this cover shoot was done "before she went to NYC to reach her dreams." Interestingly, Kelsey also had her cover shoot for Metro.Style on her brief trip to Manila last month, before she flew back to NYC to prepare for what would be the final steps to the runway of her dreams.

I had the privilege to create @kelseymerritt’s first solo magazine cover alongside @bjpascual and then @metromagph’s EIC @sarah_meier before she went to NYC to reach for her dreams. Now, I am extremely proud and genuinely happy for her as she will be the first Filipina to walk the iconic @victoriassecret fashion show! YOU TRULY ARE A GO-GETTER! You are amazing Kels! *second video: is our motion cover by @thekabog that started it all! Haha *third video: a video introduction of who our next cover girl then was.. trivia, this was the first issue we started the hashtag campaign of #MetroLoves.. it was actually coined by @thekabog for this video and the magazine is still using it now. ?????????? I still believe we created so much magic during this issue, it was a pivotal moment for everyone, and that’s why Kelsey holds a very special place in our hearts! WE LOVE YOU KELS! #KelseyMerritt #MetroLovesKelsey #Eldzstyles

Now, here's an amazing backstory on her Metro cover feature. After her magazine shoot in Manila, Sarah caught up with the fresh-faced Kelsey in NYC one afternoon; it was her first week away from home. The former Metro EIC posted a video of her interview for the cover story.

During their conversation, Sarah talked to Kelsey about the law of attraction, the belief that whatever you focus on could happen—whether that's positive or negative. Sarah explained to Kelsey, "If you put a wish out into the universe, it will come to you."

As a piece of advice, Sarah told Kelsey that if it was her dream to become a Victoria's Secret Angel, she should verbalize it and visualize herself as one, and chances are, it could happen. And it's truly magical that it did happen for Kelsey! She says, "If you just think about it and mean it, it can happen... as long as you have a goal."

April 2015 — Three years ago, just weeks into my stint as @metromagph EIC, @eldzsmejia and I became obsessed with putting a model on our cover. With @chrisnlo’s blessing and foresight, we got @kelseymerritt her first solo magazine cover for our Philippine Fashion Issue, working absolute magic with who would become my Dream Team: Eldzs, @bjpascual and @thekabog. So much synergy that day, it still gives me goosebumps. — A few days later, I trailed Kels across the world to NYC to continue writing her cover story. One afternoon, on her first week away from home, we sat down and talked about setting intentions. She wanted to be a #victoriassecretangel. — Today, Kelsey got her wings. Believe, kids. And congratulations, baby Kels. Eyes on the prize. Rep hard! ???????? #thesecret #lawofattraction #visualization #metroloveskelsey #kelseymerritt

In July 2017, she voiced out her dream through this tweet, in hopes that the universe would hear her:

It had always been Kelsey's dream to become a Victoria's Secret Angel. She worked hard for it. She knew in her heart that she could one day get her wings. She didn't let negative feedback get to her. She only had positive thoughts about her future. She simply believed. And now, she has achieved her dream, inspiring everyone to never give up and to always trust in yourself.

Everything's coming up roses for Kelsey, career-wise and in the love department as well. After making her relationship with Conor Instagram-official with a photo of them together during a trip in Japan, he also indirectly told the world via social media that he is in a relationship with Kelsey through a dreamy photo of them seemingly dancing the night away.
