On the contrary, Kim Chiu, an ABS-CBN actress and YouTube vlogger, is thriving this year with two career milestones to celebrate. 

First, she was named It's Showtime!'s new host in September. The primetime variety show picked up from where it left off despite ABS-CBN's shutdown and relaunched on other platforms with Kim as the newest addition in its regular ensemble. Second, Kim Chiu surpassed two million YouTube subscribers just this week, certifying her status as an Internet star!

She launched her YouTube channel, Kim Chiu PH, in 2017 to give fans a steady stream of behind-the-scenes footage of what she's like off-camera. Since beginning her career as a Kapamilya talent in 2006 as a Pinoy Big Brother winner, Kim has focused on making a name for herself as a leading lady both television and film, but has since branched out into the digital sphere to showcase a different side of herself. 

Kim Chiu PH has over 61 million views, collectively. 

The channel's most popular videos are those that give Kim's subscribers an up close and personal glimpse into her life away from the spotlight, including tours of her home (and bedroom!), beauty and workout routines (all formatted to make them cop-worthy), unscripted hangouts with her friends (often featuring fellow actresses Bela Padilla and Angelica Panganiban), travel entries (to inspire her fans' own itineraries), and what goes on behind closed doors at work.

The fact that these videos are realer and rawer than most (i.e.: Kim cries, laughs, goes on video sans makeup, talks about her feelings and thoughts without a teleprompter to guide her, and even keeps outtakes) has played a big part in helping Kim Chiu surpassing two million subscribers on the streaming platform. 

In case you missed it, her YouTube channel got a ton of attention earlier this year at the height of pandemic lockdown woes that coincided with controversies surrounding ABS-CBN's legal battles, all thanks to a metaphor she made about a classroom. 

Wanting to speak up about the issue on Congress refusing to grant ABS-CBN its franchise, Kim joined a set of Kapamilya celebrities in a livestreamed video calling for support for the network. It was there where the actress, overcome with emotion, attempted to compare her network's situation with that of being able, or not able, to leave class after you've completed and submitted your work. 

Her confusing statement made her the center of hundreds of memes, hashtags, and all sorts of online harassment, but Kim was resilient enough to turn her 15 minutes of infamy into a chance to raise money for pandemic-affected Filipinos. 

She ended up making music video (complete with an original tune and lyrics) and a dance step video as an accompaniment on her channel, the proceeds of which she donated to worthy causes. 

The day before Kim Chiu surpassed two million subscribers on YouTube, she posted her most recent video that addressed her bashers yet again. 

Titled "Reading Mean Comments About Me," the video rides on the popular Internet trend where online stars pick out downright hateful and intentionally offensive comments, read them out loud, and share their thoughts on them.
