Jin Goo in 'Descendants of the Sun' (2016) - Even as second lead couple, we can’t not mention GooWon! Kim Ji Won’s portrayal in 'The Heirs' left a lasting impression on K-drama writer Kim Eun Sook, leading to the actress' pivotal role as First Lieutenant Yoon Myeong Joo, a strong-willed passionate army doctor in KBS’ 'Descendants of the Sun.' The series features a sub-plot of her romance with a stoic disciplined sergeant major, Seo Dae Young (played by Jin Goo). Their relationship is fraught with obstacles from the outset, stemming from the disapproval of Myeong Joo’s father, Lieutenant General Yoon Gil Joon who desires a more socially prestigious match for his daughter. A love against all odds! The chemistry between Jin Goo and Kim Ji Won is nothing short of electric. One of our favorite scenes of the two is the one where Dae Young recites a letter to Myeong Joo perfectly down to the last word. Their love tale isn't just a sappy romance; it's a narrative of mutual respect, empathy, and a dash of sacrifice.@actor_jingoo

The series captures the subtle shifts in their dynamic, as they begin to see each other in a new light and grapple with their growing feelings. Dubbed as the “aegyo couple,” their on-screen chemistry remains a benchmark for future romantic comedies.@awesome_ent_official

Son Suk Ku in 'My Liberation Notes' (2022) - In the introspective drama 'My Liberation Notes,' Son Suk Ku plays Mr. Gu, a mysterious and brooding figure who enters the lives of the three Yeom siblings. Kim Ji Won plays Yeom Mi Jeong, the youngest sibling, seeking meaning and liberation from her monotonous life. Mi Jeong's quest for liberation is deeply personal, driven by a desire to break free from societal expectations and her own feelings of inadequacy. Mr. Gu, with his mysterious past and brooding presence, becomes her companion as she finds her voice and courage. Meanwhile, he begins to battle his inner struggles.Suk Ku's enigmatic and nuanced performance perfectly complemented Ji Won's portrayal of Mi Jeong's quiet strength and yearning. One standout scene featuring the two is when Mi Jjeong, in a rare display of vulnerability, asks Mr. Gu to help her feel liberated. This kind of connection, in fact, imbued every scene with a sense of authenticity and emotional truth.@burberry via @sonsukku

Kim Soo Hyun in 'Queen of Tears' (2024) - Hooked on BaekHong! Swooned over SooWon! Hearts fluttering with the KimKim couple! Fans dubbing multiple ship names just proves how much chemistry Ji Won holds with Kim Soo Hyun, portraying Hong Hae In and Baek Hyun Woo respectively. In tvN’s highest-rated 'Queen of Tears,' the drama begins with the couple’s marriage seemingly on the verge of collapse. Hyun Woo, coming from a humble farming family in Yongdu-ri, struggles with his inferior social standing within his wife’s influential family. In contrast, Hae In, perceived as cold and straightforward, is a figure of strength and ambition, yet deeply scarred by loneliness and unresolved wounds. As the story unfolds, their relationship circles with tension and a lot of emotions, reflecting the push-and-pull dynamic of a marriage. Raving on the chemistry between Hyun Woo and Hae In, Ji Won said, “Although it seems like they’re pushing each other away like the N and S poles, they’re complete when together and can move onwards while deciding on a direction.”@goldmedalist_official
