K-Drama Heartthrob Kim Min-Kyu Could've Been A K-Pop Idol

Prior to his acting debut, “Business Proposal” star Kim Min-kyu pursued an idol path, as he once trained with SEVENTEEN

In the June 15 episode of MBC’s Radio Star, Kim Min-kyu revealed that he became a trainee for a brief period for SEVENTEEN. A South Korean boy band, SEVENTEEN is made up of 13 members clustered into three teams that showcase talents from every performance expertise.

As reported by Soompi, in his guesting stint, the 27-year-old actor shared, “I don’t know if I would have necessarily been in that group, but there are people that I trained together with. They’re SEVENTEEN.”

Prior to Kim Min-kyu’s leap to popularity, he used to undergo training with the team to become an idol. “I was only a trainee for a month,” he explained, noting that he eventually quit his quest for a K-pop career. “I wasn’t extremely good at singing to the extent of becoming a singer, and I’m really bad at dancing. I also had a thirst for acting that never went away,” he stressed.

Now a well-loved K-drama heartthrob, Kim Min-kyu shot to fame following his memorable portrayals in melodrama series Snowdrop and the rom-com hit Business Proposal. Prior to this, he also starred in 2019 dramas Perfume and Queen: Love and War, and had supporting roles in the series Backstreet Rookie and So I Married the Anti-Fan

He is known for his signature dimples, swimmer physique, and a big plus—his chiseled jawline! While his cradle at the moment is acting, he has had his moments in singing that fans can swoon at. Check out his clips from I Can See Your Voice when he braved the contest back in 2017.
