Kit Harington And Rose Leslie Are Married, And Their Wedding Was Perfect: All The Details You Need To Know About Their Rustic Scottish Nuptials
Game of Thrones fans from all over the world whooped in joy when this couple finally tied the knot.
As far as Game of Thrones weddings go, this one was the happiest in all respects: warring houses managed to lay down their arms for just a day to honor Jon Snow and Ygritte's "I dos," and there was certainly no ruckus to interrupt the ceremony which went beautifully.
After four years of undercover dating and a year of being a couple in the public eye, Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are now Mr. and Mrs.! The 31-year-olds were wed on June 23 in a rustic Scottish ceremony, where they were surrounded by 200 guests made up of friends, family, and castmates.
Here's everything you need to know about Mr. and Mrs. Harington's dreamy wedding—which was certainly the antithesis to the infamous Red Wedding!
Where was it held?
Kit and Rose had two venues for the traditional ceremony.
First, the wedding proper was held at Rayne Parish Church, Kirkton of Rayne, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and the historic 18th century structure was of particular significance to the bride who grew up in Aberdeenshire and where her family has aristocratic roots. Well-maintained and exuding an aura of elegant simplicity, no venue could have been a better choice for this countryside wedding.
Upon arriving at the church, a clearly beaming Rose was photographed and filmed saying, "hello, everyone!" to onlookers waiting for her to step down from her car. After the ceremony, Rose and Kit were photographed looking absolutely ecstatic to be married, walking down the church's path with fingers interlaced and proudly wearing their new wedding bands for the world to see.
Following the wedding, the couple moved guests to the reception which took place at Wardhill Castle—which Rose's family has owned for nine centuries! The ancestral home is surrounded by a whopping 700 acres of manicured farmland where sheep are allowed to graze freely and which guests are encouraged to explore.
Taking advantage of mild Scottish weather this time of the year, the newlyweds opted for a mix of indoor and outdoor entertaining, utilizing the castle's banquet room and setting up part of its surrounding lawn to accommodate all guests.
If an onlooker didn't know any better, this wedding party could have easily been mistaken for a GoT shooting spot, considering the amount of famous faces present!
Speaking of the guest list, which of Rose and Kit's castmates were there?
Kit originally stated that he wished all of his GoT castmates to be present at his wedding. After all, he's been in all seven seasons of the show which oftentimes had him and his castmates travel to different parts of the world and bond over totally unique experiences. Many of the show's actors became some of his closest friends over time.
But of course, considering prior commitments and the responsibilities of their professional lives, only a handful of GoT stars made it to the destination wedding. Regardless, these famous guests made it feel like fans were right back on set, albeit with less grime and dirt, and more smiles and beauty.
In attendance were Emilia Clarke who plays mother of dragons Daenerys Targaryen, Peter Dinklage who GoT fans love as Tyrion Lannister, real-life gal pals Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams everyone will recognize as onscreen Stark sisters Sansa and Arya, Liam Cunningham who brings justice to Davos Seaworth, John Bradley a.k.a. Samwell Tarly, Joe Dempsie who brought Gendry to life, and Ben Crompton who plays Jon Snow's best bud, Eddison Tollett.
And of course, it can't be a star-studded occasion without eye-catching outfits
Beautiful and handsome as everyone was, no one could have possibly eclipsed the auburn-haired bride who stunned in a long-sleeved Eli Saab gown.
Rose handpicked the Lebanese designer known for his feminine, almost fairytale-like designs and the collaboration resulted in an angelic vision that Kit will remember all throughout his days.
The delicate ivory number rested beautifully on Rose's porcelain complexion and was accentuated with monochromatic lace applique. A veil that went all the way down to her hemline lent a touch of traditional style, while a garland of flowers atop her head was a fresh and contemporary pick. Rose's bouquet of white roses was complementing rather than overwhelming, and all in all, she was the true image of a blushing bride as she walked down the aisle.
Kit, on the other hand, was dapper in his tux; he wore a cream vest underneath a classic black jacket and paired them with formal pinstripe gray trousers. Given that GoT filming for its last season hasn't completely wrapped up, he needed to retain his mane of Jon Snow curls and a slight beard.
Other remarkable outfits worth a mention are that of Rose's father Sebastian, who wore a traditional Scottish kilt, Emilia Clarke's rosy ensemble, as well as Sophie Turner's sexy thigh-skimming red jacket dress and Maisie William's understated black jumpsuit.
Now that Rose and Kit have wed, we're most excited for their honeymoon and soon after that, hopefully their first baby girl or boy! Congratulations to the newlyweds!
