In Photos: Korean Celebrities Who Have Vacationed In The Philippines
Their destinations of choice are Boracay, Cebu, Palawan, Bohol, and Batangas
Korean actors and singers have regularly visited the Philippines for holidays since K-dramas and the K-pop scene skyrocketed in popularity in the mid-2000s, with most of them openly talking about how they enjoyed their trips.
Take note—Batangas, Bohol, Boracay, Cebu, Palawan are five of these Korean celebrities' favorite Pinoy vacation spots! It's very rarely that you'll see them hanging around the metro, cruising around busy streets or strolling around malls. They're all about exploring beaches, resorts, water activities, and nature adventures, and sampling even local cuisine. So when COVID has come and gone and local and international travels are back on the table, you know exactly where to go to increase your chances of casually running into a Korean superstar.
Check out our list of Korean actors and K-Pop stars that who vacationed in or visited the Philippines in the gallery below:

Park Seo-Joon
This Korean oppa who's now also an endorser of Philippine brands has been to the country more than once! He went to Boracay the first time he visited (for a "Vogue Girl" photo shoot with fellow actor Lee Hyun-woo). And in 2019, he came back to explore Metro Manila when he went here for an event for Bench. He even has a vlog documenting what he did when he hung out around Makati, in Greenbelt and The Peninsula Manila which, of course, included him digging into a giant bowl of halo-halo.

Park Hyung-Sik
Before starting his military service, this actor chose Cebu as one of his pre-enlistment vacation destinations! He was just there for three days, but the short vacay was jampacked with diving and open ocean swimming. (Now that he's done with his work in the military, his Filipino fans hope to welcome him back sooner than later!).

Sehun
EXO's Sehun has been to Batangas, too! He was there four years ago for a super quick weekend getaway, and though he didn't reveal much to fans about where he was exactly, he did update everyone via photos of him enjoying a resort's amenities: an infinity pool, a lovely view of surrounding nature, and of course, endless swaths of private, pristine beaches.

Park Hae-Jin
K-Drama "Forest" leading man Park Hae-jin filmed several scenes in Manila; it was one of the last trips he would make before COVID became a pandemic. Though it was mostly a work trip, the fact that he and his co-star Jo Bo-ah traveled to Intramuros meant that in-between scenes and during brief breaks, they got to explore the Walled City's best sites. They saw the Manila Cathedral, dined at Ilustrado, and took private evening strolls around Intramuros' rehabilitated areas outfitted with pretty capiz lanterns and couple-friendly benches under big, century-old trees.

Lee Min-Ho
Can you guess how many times Lee Min-ho has been to the Philippines? Not twice, not even thrice, but five times! It was always a mix of work and personal business though, but of the biggest Korean stars who have ever gone on trips to the country, he's definitely one of the few that's been here that often. Since his first trip in 2012 (it was for a Bench shoot!), he's been around Metro Manila, but he's also seen Boracay and Cebu.

Son Ye-Jin
Now that Son Ye-jin is endorsing Philippine brand SMART, the "Crash Landing on You" actress has expressed how much she wants to visit the country and meet her Filipino fans post-pandemic. It won't be her first time in the Philippines, though, as she went for a vacation here more than a decade ago and explored the beaches of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, where she was said to have stayed at Dos Palmas Island Resort & Spa.

Im Soo-Hyang
The "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" cast (which includes Im Soo-hyang, Cha Eun-woo, Jo Woo-ri, Kwak Dong-yeon, Min Do-hee, Park Yoo-na, Jung Seung-hye, Kim Do-yeon, and Lee Tae-sun) went to Cebu for a reward vacation, to celebrate the success of their series. Aside from having fun at the beaches and resorts, some of them even strolled a mall, too, wearing shirts that say "Cebu!"

Kwak Dong-Yeon
"Vincenzo" star Kwak Dong-yeon vacationed in Cebu twice: first in 2016 with his "Love in the Moonlight" co-stars (such as Park Bo-gum) and in 2018 with his "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" fellow cast members (like Min Do-hee, Kim Do-yeon, and Lee Tae-sun).

SEVENTEEN
The 13-member boyband headed to Calatagan, Batangas for a two-in-one shoot in 2017. They were there to take photos for an album, and they extended the trip for the boys to enjoy the best of the province: beaches, snorkeling, and resort life. According to Jeonghan, Batangas is by far his favorite beach destination (hopefully it hasn't changed since he was last in the Philippines!).

Taemin
Shinee group member Taemin was out on a trip with fellow K-Pop friends in 2019. Cebu was their destination of choice and they made the best of the trip by experiencing all the marine activities they could squeeze into their holiday and lounging about on the beach. Their vacation was a lot more active than most; they went snorkeling, diving, cliff-diving and even canyoneering in Kawasan Falls.

Kai
It's pretty much unsaid that non-Filipino tourists head to the Philippines for its beaches, but Kai reportedly explored another side of the country. In a visit to Cebu, he was said to have toured its culturally significant spots in the city, like Fort San Pedro in Cebu's port area, which means he likely also learned about Magellan's Cross, and saw a ton of historical churches as he was out and about.

The Padding Squad in Cebu
You know that group of famous friends Kai and Taemin traveled to the Philippines with? They're actually called The Padding Squad, a.k.a. one of Korean entertainment's most famous group of celeb buddies! The group is made up of Wanna One's Ha Sungwoon, VIXX’s Ravi, SHINee's Taemin, EXO's Kai, and HOTSHOT's Timoteo.

BTS
BTS held a two-day concert in Manila in 2017. They also did a photo shoot in Coron, Palawan for their 2017 Summer Package. These boys are also SMART endorsers now, so we're hoping there'll be a chance for them to hold a fan meet in the Philippines when it's safe to do so already.

Other Korean celebrities were set to visit the Philippines last year, either for work or holiday or a mix of both, but their trips were postponed due to the pandemic (boo you, COVID!).
We're looking forward to what actors Hyun Bin and Ji Chang-wook (both are Bench endorsers) will finally say about the Philippines and its tropical wonders when they finally experience them—hopefully sooner than later!
