Wow! Kris Aquino Was Invited To Grace The "Crazy Rich Asians" Movie Premiere In Hollywood—But There's A Catch!
If all goes well, the Queen of all Media could be smiling for the cameras and waving at an adoring public at the legendary Grauman's Chinese Theatre this August!
The awesome news was announced just yesterday. Kris Aquino was invited to walk the red carpet alongside the all-Asian cast of the upcoming film Crazy Rich Asians in which she plays a role—something that she considers to be a great honor and a truly remarkable career highlight.
The mom of two shared the invitation on Instagram and captioned it with a lengthy message that expressed her excitement about the upcoming premiere, even recalling the surprise she felt when filming began just two months after she auditioned in March last year. Still keeping her role a closely guarded secret, the only details Kris has revealed about it are that she'll be playing royalty, and that she'll be clad in a gorgeous Michael Cinco number.
If there was ever a time you had doubts about the future because of the burdens of today- i hope this post will inspire you. I was at practically back to zero when i auditioned for this film March 25, 2017. I have been greatly blessed because my US based agent @agentchrislee sent me the official invitation & i am excited to see @kevinkwanbooks again- kailangan na lang po ng permission ng isang super big food brand dahil may 3 day endorsement shoot for them na matatamaan. #kapitlang #lovelovelove ??
Directed by Jon M. Chu (Now You See Me 2), this comedy about acceptance, love, and surpassing cultural differences is the film adaptation of the worldwide bestselling novel by Kevin Kwan of the same name. It was suggested that Kevin, who has been to Manila more than once and is familiar with its showbiz scene, already had Kris in mind when casting for the film began.
With a filmography that spans decades and genres, it comes to no surprise that Kris' acting chops landed her a coveted role in this hotly anticipated feature that also stars Malaysian talent Michelle Yeoh (Memoirs of a Geisha), Chinese-American actress Constance Wu (Fresh Off the Boat), film and theater actress Gemma Chan (Submarine), and newcomer Henry Goulding.
Kris maintains high hopes of attending the film's Hollywood premiere on August 7.
Unfortunately, the premiere coincides with a three-day shoot for a food brand that Kris is an endorser of. Only with their permission will she be able to make the quick trip to California to be part of this once in a lifetime event.
"Kailangan na lang po ng permission ng isang super big food brand dahil may 3 day endorsement shoot for them na matatamaan," she wrote.
While everyone knows just how important it is to honor professional commitments, Kris' partners in this project may actually give her a bit of leeway for an opportunity as big as this. We're definitely keeping our fingers crossed that they give one big resounding "yes!"
