Thank The Gods! Kristine Hermosa Makes A Huge TV Comeback On "Bagani," Plus A Look Back At Her Career
The moment her fans have been waiting for for eight years has finally arrived—and it's better than anything any of them ever imagined!
Kristine Hermosa, who began her TV and film acting career even before her teens, got reacquainted with life in the limelight this week after going on an unofficial acting hiatus in 2010. The actress decided to focus on family life when she married Oyo Sotto in 2011.
Much to the delight of her fans, she made her back-to-TV debut in none other than weekday primetime fantaserye Bagani, where she plays the role of goddess Malaya, wife to Bathala (Raymond Bagatsing) and mother to brothers Apo (Diether Ocampo) and Sarimaw (Ryan Eigenmann).
The show's April 13 episode marked the first of many of Kristine's appearances, where she'll likely be filmed in scenes together with young leads Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano who play Lakas and Ganda.
As it turns out, the woman who plays the otherworldly being on the hit series turned to a bit of divine intervention to help her decide on whether it was time to return to acting. In an interview with ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe, she revealed that she left it all to God:
"I really prayed about this. Mahirap kasi my [focus] talaga is sa family na eh. So I prayed about it and I asked God about it, 'Lord, ano ba? Gusto mo na ba akong bumalik talaga?'" said the mom of four.
So far, her prayers seem to have been answered as her longtime supporters were incredibly happy with her return to television. Many of them described her first Bagani episode to showcase "Ganda at Ganda" (Beauty and Beauty) in reference to Liza and her character and Kristine, who is one of local showbiz's most beautiful actresses.

To celebrate Kristine's much-awaited return to her Kapamilya roots, here's a quick look back at her career highlights:
1995, Ang TV
Remember when Kristine first caught our eye in the country's first-ever kid and teen-centric variety show? A lot of her fans today "grew up" with Kristine through the years, hence the intense loyalty!
1996, Gimik
Kids have to grow up someday. And when the transition into adolescence began, that only meant one thing for once budding actress Kristine: her leading role as Tintin Fernadez in Gimik that all teens of her generations related to.
2000, Pangako Sa 'Yo
Undisputedly, this is the show that catapulted Kristine to fame. Her tandem with Jericho Rosales was never forgotten, and the show dubbed as the first true teleserye in the country paved the way for many other shows to follow suit.
2006, Gulong ng Palad
The now established actress saw herself taking on a more mature role in this drama series. She portrayed Luisa whose forbidden love with Carding invited complications into their lives before getting their happy ending.
2008, My Big Love
Showcasing the breadth of her talent, Kristine kept it light and funny in this movie about learning that true love goes beyond what meets the eye.
2010, Noah
This was the last time Kapamilya fans saw Kristine light up the silver screen. She would go on to marry Oyo Sotto the following year and decide to take a break from acting to focus on building a life for their young family.
2018, Bagani
Kristine returns to television with a bang almost a decade after her last major project.
