Ku Hye-Sun And Ahn Jae-Hyun Are Officially Divorced
They have agreed to settle for divorce through mediation on July 15, according to their official statement
It’s official! South Korean actors Ku Hye-sun and Ahn Jae-hyun, who met on the set of K-Drama Blood in 2015, have finalized their divorce.
The two tied the knot in May 2016, with everything seemingly going smoothly for them in the years that followed. In August 2019, however, the 34-year-old actress shared on Instagram that Ahn Jae-hyun was seeking a marriage split. The latter filed a divorce lawsuit against his wife of three years at the Seoul Family Court in September of the same year.
In an interview on SBS program Night of Real Entertainment last February, Ku Hye-sun revealed that she never thought of calling it quits on their romance ever since they got married. “Even if we fought, we’d solve the issue and make up, and we promised that we’d always be by each other’s side when we’re ill or going through difficulties,” she said.
Like how they dealt with conflict in the past, the actress wanted to talk out the problems and differences between them. “But [now] I think that I have to go in the direction that he wants,” she added.
According to their official statement, Ku Hye-sun and Ahn Jae-hyun have agreed to settle for divorce through mediation on July 15. “The two will each walk on their own paths, and they will wish the best for each other’s futures. We express apologies for their private matters having caused trouble to the public until now,” it says.
There are other Korean celebrity couples whose marriages ended in divorce. There's the famous SongSong couple from K-Drama Descendants of the Sun, Song Hye-kyo and Song Joong-ki, who tied the knot in October 2017 and finalized their divorce in July 2019. After three years of marriage, Lee Dong-gun and Jo Yoon-hee, who met as co-stars of drama series The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop, also filed for divorce last May.
