KZ Tandingan Beats Jessie J On China’s Most Popular Reality Singing Competition "Singer 2018"
KZ Tandingan ruled social media yesterday, February 9, after bagging the number one spot on Singer 2018.
Singer 2018 is China’s most popular reality TV singing competition wherein they gather professional singers around the world and pit them against each other.
For this battle, the X-Factor Philippines winner went against no other than Jessie J, the pop singer who is behind hits such as "Price Tag" and "Flashlight." Jessie J has been the audience favorite for four consecutive weeks. Other competitors were Taiwanese pop singers Angela Chang and Sam Lee, Chinese-American pop star Coco Lee, and Hong Kong singer Sandy Lam.
And this week, the 25-year-old star has beaten all of them with her powerful vocals as she performed a jazz rendition of Adele’s "Rolling in the Deep," where she also did some Pinoy rapping. KZ received a lot of warm reactions from the audiences for this performance.
The "Price Tag" singer sang "Ain’t Nobody" which made her land on the second spot.
In the same episode, KZ also got a chance to talk to her singing inspiration Jessie J. “When I was in high school, I almost stopped singing because I couldn’t reach the high notes anymore because I had a polyp on my vocal cords. And then, I hear you, and then I realize that I don’t have to hit those high notes,” she tells Jessie J. “The reason why I am an artist now, a big chunk of that is because of you.” See more of their emotional encounter on the video below:
