Erich Gonzales on ‘La Vida Lena’: ‘I’m Grateful’

At the end of it all, nearly two years since La Vida Lena premiered, lead star Erich Gonzales has one thing in mind: gratitude. 

The revenge thriller was released on iWantTFC in November 2020, and has since found a home on the Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5.

For most of its run, La Vida Lena has consistently topped iWantTFC charts, as more and more people tuned in to see what awaits Magda/Lena every episode.

Whether it was for Ramona and Vanessa’s tarayan scenes, Magda’s resilience, or Lukas’ villainy, viewers just couldn’t get enough of the show.

La Vida Lena follows Magdalena Mendoza, an “enterprising woman” who “hits the jackpot” when the soap she created quickly gains popularity in her town of Salvacion. This earns the ire of the Narciso family, the owners of the biggest surgical and cosmetic company in the country.

“Simula nung nag-air ’yung La Vida Lena, nand’un ’yung suporta [ng lahat]; talagang sinubaybayan nila, pinanood nila, kahit late na. Sobrang grateful po tayo d’un,” Erich said at the series finale’s media conference last January 31.

The rest of the cast—Kit Thompson, who plays Miguel; JC de Vera, who plays Adrian; Janice de Belen, who plays Dr. Ramona; and Agot Isidro, who plays Vanessa—also shared their thoughts on the upcoming end of the series.

Most notably, it was also the entire cast’s first time to experience a lock-in shoot, or “the bubble,” as some actors call it. This experience allowed the group to bond even more, get to know each other better, and in turn deliver much more authentic performances.
