Lea Salonga Is the Fifth Filipino to Have a Madame Tussauds Wax Figure

She’s shining, shimmering, and splendid!

Madame Tussauds Singapore is celebrating its 10th anniversary this 2024, and to commemorate its first decade of exciting figure launches, a series of surprises and activities are underway.

Broadway veteran and “Miss Saigon” star Lea Salonga, for one, is finally set to have her own wax figure in Singapore soon!

“When my manager said this is happening, that Madame Tussauds is interested in making a wax figure of me, it was an absolute honor and privilege to be asked,” Lea said in her sitting session with the wax museum. “It’s fantastic!”

On Instagram, in a clip posted by Madame Tussauds Singapore, Lea is seen to be having her measurements taken by the sculpting team.

“We are truly excited and honored to have Lea's wax figure,” shared Madame Tussauds Singapore Sales and Marketing Head Elaine Quek. “We know a lot of people all over the world are excited to see Lea Salonga in wax.”

“The whole Filipino community globally is beaming with pride, that’s why we know we had to reach out to her and make it happen here,” Elaine continued.

With a prolific career that spans more than 45 years, Lea has become an emblem of Philippine entertainment. Known for her stunning vocals, the singer-actress portrayed remarkable roles throughout her musical track, most notably Kim in “Miss Saigon.”

She was also the voice of Disney’s Princess Jasmine and Mulan, and is the first Asian talent to take on Eponine’s character in the world-renowned musical “Les Misérables.”

The theater legend’s wax statue, according to Madame Tussauds Singapore, will be unveiled in this year’s third quarter. Apart from Lea, meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao, Pia Wurtzbach, Catriona Gray, and Anne Curtis have their very own Madame Tussauds wax figures, too.

Besides Lea’s wax figure milestone, she will also be kickstarting her latest concert “Stage, Screen, & Everything in Between: UK Concert Tour 2024” on June 24, 2024.
