Engagement Alert! Lily Collins Is A Bride-To-Be!

It's love in the time of COVID-19! Lily Collins, an actress known for films Love, Rosie, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Rules Don't Apply and most recently, TV series Emily in Paris, is happily engaged to Charlie McDowell.

She gave a big, resounding "yes" to the film director and author, her boyfriend since last year, over the weekend when they were out enjoying an autumn family camping trip in Northern California's legendary redwood trees.

It definitely doesn't come as a surprise that Charlie chose to propose here, given that he and Lily have spent much of their time as a couple exploring America's great outdoors. 

Taking to Instagram to announce the happy news, this Mr. and Mrs. in-the-making posted a closeup photo of Lily showing off her engagement ring. Speaking of the ring, it's an unusual piece of jewelry that's got everyone talking! Certainly an atypical choice, it's actually an understated yet elegant rose-cut diamond paired with a delicate gold band by LA-based designer Irene Neuwirth. 

Captioning the IG-ready engagement photo, Lily wrote, "The purest joy I’ve ever felt," while Charlie said, "In a time of uncertainty and darkness you have illuminated my life. I will forever cherish my adventure with you."

Fans of the 31-year-old actress won't be surprised by the couple's sweet displays of affection as they've been making regular appearances on each other's social media feeds since becoming IG-official in August 2019.

While Lily needs no introduction, her fiancé might not be as familiar to most. Charlie, though a low-profile in Hollywood, is actually a director, author, and to many in the industry, a likable social media personality.

He directed films The One I Love and The Discovery, plus a couple of episodes of hit shows Dear White People and Silicon Valley. He also owns a production company and, like Lily, is the child of heavyweight Hollywood personalities. (Lily is composer Phil Collins' daughter, and Charlie's dad is actor Michael McDowell!).

Surrounded by her future in-laws on the special day, Lily got a taste of what life will soon be like with her husband-to-be and her new family. 

Many of the couple's friends and fellow celebs like Ashley Tisdale, Zoey Deutch, Ciara, Taylor Hill, Reese Witherspoon, Zachary Levi, and Max Minghella were just some of those who offered their well-wishes.
