Maria Menounos and Keven Undergaro Ring In The New Year — Literally, And Beautifully

Leave it to Maria Menounos and longtime beau Keven Undergaro to wow the world with a surprise wintry midnight wedding in Times Square.

Did they plan this extra special day over the course of their 20-year long relationship? Not at all. In fact, the New Year's Eve wedding took only two weeks to plan, and that included finding an officiator, letting their parents know, and of course, finding and fitting the dress. At the end of it all, was the ceremony as magical as they had imagined? Absolutely!

American Tv Hosts, Maria Menounos Rang In The New Year With A Wedding Ring! The 39-year-old TV host announced Sunday night that she and longtime boyfriend Kevin Undergaro got married in the middle of Times Square on New Year’s Eve. Her Fox's New Year's Eve special co-host, Steve Harvey, officiated the ceremony. “Omg! I can’t believe we are finally getting married after 20 years! Tune in to #nye on @foxtv to watch us get hitched in just a few!#coldestbridever,” Menounos tweeted after the announcement. Undergaro proposed on The Howard Stern Show in 2016. With the crowd looking on, Menounos cries as she hugs her new husband. After the surgery, she stepped down from E! News. “Would you believe me if I told you that the brain tumor is the best thing that ever happened to me?” Menounos told Women's Health in December. “It's freed me from all of that anxiety of having to be perfect. You can't control everything; leave it to God and just say, 'Okay, this is my journey.”

It all started when Maria, a TV and Sirius XM radio host, was planning the segments to include for Fox’s annual "New Year’s Eve with Steve Harvey" special alongside her producer. She suggested to find a couple who wanted to get married in Times Square on air, then jokingly suggested that she and Keven could do it.

The Greek beauty laughed it off, mulled it over in her head later that night, then realized, "Wait, this really is kind of perfect.”

Maria then sent Keven a text message to give him a heads up about the plans, not knowing that he had been planning a surprise ceremony for her separately.

As quoted by People magazine, Keven recalls, "I’ve been talking to Beth Stern [and] Howard Stern for about a year, coming up with a date to do a surprise wedding on his show. We had everything planned out. She sends me this text and I’m freezing. Now what do I do?”

Do what makes your wife-to-be happy, of course! After all, with a relationship like theirs, it's safe to say that when she's happy, he is too, and certainly vice-versa.

Glad to rid herself of the stress of finding a venue, inviting guests, coordinating with event stylists, florists, and caterers, Maria immediately took to Pinterest to find the defining dress. Getting married on one of the coldest nights of the year dictated that she not only look radiant, but be protected from the elements, too! The final choice was a number from Barcelona's Atelier Pronovias—a fully laced "Randala" dress that Maria accessorized with a delicate veil and matching coat. She looked perfect.

The only thing left to do then was to patiently wait for New Year's Eve, do the show, then quickly get dressed backstage to surprise both her live audience and viewers at home. Maria's parents, Constantine and Lisa Menounos, were equally surprised as their daughter also told them about her wedding plans right then and there, during the live broadcast. With smiles, they approved.

A few hours before the ceremony, Maria tweeted, "Omg! I can’t believe we are finally getting married after 20 years! Tune in to #nye on @foxtv to watch us get hitched in just a few! #coldestbridever," piquing the curiosity and excitement of everyone watching.

When she emerged from behind the curtain, the audible gasps from the crowd said it all. Keven, who wore a classic black tux and cute subtle ear warmers, was in indescribable bliss as he saw his bride in her wedding dress for the first time.

Co-host for the evening and friend Steve Harvey officiated the ceremony, joking that he got ordained a mere 48 hours before the wedding, courtesy of the Internet.

The couple exchanged I do's, sealing their commitment to and love for each other, and officially started 2018 as Mr. and Mrs. Undergaro. A Happy New Year, indeed!

Best of all, their wedding isn't a celebration on its own. The union is triply happy as Maria recently found a new lease on life, after discovering that she had a sizeable brain tumor in 2017 while she was caring for her mother who is battling stage four brain cancer. Fortunately, the growth was benign and 99.9 percent of the tumor was successfully removed, and her mother has had the strength to continue the uphill climb of healing.

Keven has supported Maria and her family throughout these trying times and can now look forward to a happy wedded life with her. Maria got engaged to Keven in March 2016 when he proposed to her during a live segment of the The Howard Stern Show.

"I’m excited to be able to call her my wife. It’s been girlfriend for so long that it will be nice to finally, finally be able to say ‘my wife,'" shares Undergaro, as cited by brides.com.

The newlyweds are set to have brunch on January 1 to celebrate their wedding.
