EXCLUSIVE: Matteo Guidicelli Joins Asia’s Best Female Chef Margarita Forés For An Italian Food Crawl

We’re celebrating all things Italian with Matteo Guidicelli and Asia’s Best Female Chef Margarita Forés as Metro Channel’s The Crawl takes us to the beautiful and delicious streets of Italy.

Following the success of The Crawl Spain where Matteo’s close friend Nico Bolzico and culinary experts Chef Willy Trullas and Dani Aliaga explored the food and tourist destinations in Spain, this time, The Crawl ventures into another favorite foodie destination: Italy.

Matteo Guidicelli may be known for his acting and singing skills, but in fact, he also has a lot to share when it comes to Italian cuisine. This Filipino-Italian heartthrob also owns an Italian cuisine restaurant in Alabang called Da Gianni Cucina Italiana. The restaurant is named after the Guidicellis’ beloved grandfather, and is the second food venture of the family.

Matteo shares that he grew up in a family who loves to cook, that’s why he developed a love for cooking as well. This is also why most of the dishes at Da Gianni Cucina Italia are heirloom recipes from their grandparents.

Touring Italy beside Matteo on The Crawl Italy is Chef Margarita, voted Asia’s Best Female Chef in 2016. Having spent many years learning about Italian cuisine, she is the culinary genius behind well-loved restaurants like Cibo, Lusso, Grace Park, and the newly-opened Islas Pinas. When it comes to Italian cuisine in the local food industry, no one really beats her knowledge and talent for whipping up dishes.

Matteo and Chef Margarita will be exploring Milan, Alba, Veneto, and Florence during their 11-day shoot in Italy, scouring the best Italian restaurants, sampling wine, and checking off from their bucket lists the must-dos when in these places.

Look forward to their visit to Eataly Milano Smeraldo, the world's largest Italian marketplace and food hall. They’re also dropping by Mazzei, a winery in Siena that has been producing wine for more than 600 years since 1435. We’re also getting a glimpse of Chef Margarita’s old neighborhood as we walk down Piazza Santa Croce, one of the main plazas in the central neighborhood of Florence; Piazza della Signoria, the center of political life in Florence since the 14th century; and Borgo dei Greci, one of the streets in the historic center of Florence.

Stay tuned for the premiere of The Crawl Italy with Matteo Guidicelli and Chef Margarita Fores on Metro Channel, channel 52 on Sky Cable and channel 174 on HD.
