At 24, Maymay is wise beyond her years, and her growth as an artist was obvious in the way she answered the questions during her recent media conference for her upcoming digital concert titled “MPOWERED.” The concert is a celebration of the performer’s beauty, talent, and strength in time for her fifth year in the entertainment industry.

Filipinos first met Maymay in Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky Season 7 in 2017. Even back then, it was obvious there was something special about her, especially when she shared a self-written song titled “Baliw.” Maymay went on to pursue even more as an artist, starring in movies like Loving in Tandem (her debut movie with fellow PBB alum Edward Barber); Da One That Ghost Away; Fantastica; Hello, Love, Goodbye; and Princess DayaReese; and appearing in series like La Luna Sangre. Maymay surprised her fans even more when she launched herself as a total performer in 2018 via her concert, “The Dream.”

Maymay recently released an anthem of self-discovery and confidence titled “Amakabogera,” showcasing her impressive vocal chops and maturity as a singer. With the song’s release came a music video that now has more than 2.8 million views and a WISH 107.5 Bus performance that has surpassed 3.5 million views, as of this writing.

After all these achievements, Maymay still remembers her humble beginnings. So trabaho siya. Dahil trabaho siya, walang madaling trabaho, lahat pinaghihirapan

“So nu’ng unang mga first two years po ata, doon po ’yung sobrang nag-a-adjust palang ako.

So where does Maymay see herself in the next five years both as an artist and an individual?

So bonus na sa’kin if five years from now nandito pa rin ako, nagpe-perform pa rin ako.”
