Recently, ABS-CBN’s talent recruitment arm and artist agency Star Magic announced its stream of activities and functions to look forward to. Helmed by ABS-CBN’s Head of TV Production Laurenti Dyogi, the management highly puts a premium on its talents, showcasing their abilities across the local and international landscape.

Following its first ever Star Magical Prom in March, Star Magic is mounting another event this May. Titled “Hot Summer: LaHot Sexy,” the grand summer party gathers showbiz personalities who are patrons of body positivity, self-love, and self-care.

Happening on May 4, 2023, the festivities will feature an array of Kapamilya stars who aspire to change the stigma and champion every shape and size. Serving as the perfect platform for Star Magic’s body positivity campaign is the Metro Body special.

Metro Body has been a tradition of superbrand Metro. This 2023, in collaboration with the premier talent management agency, the latest Metro Body campaign celebrates the messaging that every body is sexy. In this feature, we asked the stars on what they think of self-love, loving one’s own skin and size, and accepting oneself amidst imperfections and insecurities.

Kaila Estrada - “Love your body for what it is. God designed you the way that you are because everybody is beautiful. Embrace your individuality. Don’t beat yourself up over what you see online because social media isn’t real, and you’re beautiful the way you are. Don’t let certain beauty standards fool you. Love your flaws ‘cause they make you who you are.”Dix Perez

Jameson Blake - “What I would like to tell people to inspire them somehow is there’s always going to be challenges in terms of what people are going to say pero for me, what I try to train myself is, ‘'Wag mong dibdibin 'yung mga sinasabi nila, like what they say about your body.’ They’re always going to say something about your body pero just use that as motivation and try to focus on yourself. I mean, what’s the best feeling other than proving them wrong?”Dix Perez

Aya Fernandez - “I think in this generation, we’re very focused on appearing to be effortless, but I think ‘effortless’ means ‘a lot of effort.’ What I mean by that is ‘effortlessly glowing,’ because ‘Wow! She’s not wearing any makeup.’ But, if you come to think of it, that person does the skincare routine every single day; she drinks her water; she eats a balanced diet. So, it’s really still an effort. I think it’s about time—it’s 2023—that we really progress into a space that it’s more of what’s going on internally and how we connect with each other and the kind of empowerment that we make through that kind of connection—how we uplift each other.”Dix Perez

Enzo Pineda and Michelle Vito - Enzo: “Ako, para sa ‘kin, when you talk about being healthy holistically, it’s just really trying to find the balance with everything. Kumbaga, we only have one life. What we do with our body is how we also respect God, ‘di ba—kung binababoy natin ‘yung katawan natin, if we abuse it. How we take care of our body is a reflection of how we love God.” | Michelle: “Siguro ako, babalik ako du’n sa iwasan na siguro natin ‘yung papaapekto tayo sa mga sinasabi ng ibang tao or siguro iwasan din natin mag-judge or magsalita kasi hindi natin alam talaga ‘yung epekto sa ibang tao once mabasa nila ‘yun. Hindi mo alam, ‘yun pala ‘yung biggest insecurity nila tapos mababasa natin. And of course, siguro kung makakabasa man tayo ng ganu’n or may magsabi man sa‘tin, ‘wag na lang nating pansinin.”Dix Perez

Chie Filomeno and Jake Cuenca - Chie: “It’s easier said than done, but acceptance and loving yourself—‘yun talaga ‘yun, e. There are no other words to describe it but you have to really accept what you have and be happy. Love life!” | Jake: “Love yourself. Own it! Be proud of your body because we only have one and at the same time, whatever it may be, there’s nothing more sexy than a person who is confident and who has self-belief.”Dix Perez

Jane Oineza and RK Bagatsing - Jane: “It’s not easy; it’s an everyday battle. It’s a one-step-at-a-time kind of thing. But slowly, just be kinder to yourself and ‘yun nga, learn to love every bit of you. It’s what makes you unique—even the flaws. Learn to love your flaws as well.” | RK:“I think what makes you beautiful and sexy is being confident about who you are, but I’m not saying that because everyone has it in them. Hindi ko sinasabi ‘yun dahil madaling gawin, but it’s a process and it’s a journey. Being sexy and beautiful is loving yourself no matter what you look like or what shape you are in.”Dix Perez

Anne Lorenzo - “As we know, we are public figures, so kami ‘yung parang tinitignan ng mga younger generation to inspire them, at gusto kong alisin ‘yung mentality that only those skinny people lang ‘yung maganda. Regardless of your shape, regardless of the color of your skin, you are beautiful.”Dix Perez

Jenny Miller and Eian Rances - Eian:“Be proud of yourself and who you’ve become. Ako, galing din sa pambubuli before pero in-embrace ko siya at mas minahal ko ‘yung sarili ko through the years. Kasi, when you are proud of yourself and you love yourself, mas ‘yun ‘yung magbibigay ng motivation sa ‘yo to work out, to be healthy, to take your vitamins. Lalabas ‘yun outside; mag-re-reflect ‘yun outside.”Dix Perez

BINIs Mikha, Aiah, and Sheena - Mikha: “Of course, if you want to be healthy, go for it because you won’t be able to be healthy if you’re just going to think about it.” | Aiah: “I think it’s normal that we all go through a phase where we get so insecure with our bodies, pero I hope mangingibabaw pa rin ‘yung mga reasons why you should love your body ‘cause it’s your body.” | Sheena:“Don’t think too much kung ano’ng sasabihin ng iba sa‘yo kasi kung saan ka masaya, du’n ka.”Dix Perez

Kiara Takahashi, Lou Yanong, Thamara Alexandria, and Diana Mackey - Kiara: “Magandang maging sexy pero mas sexy ‘yung utak at confidence. Gusto ko parang ‘yung mentally sexy.” | Lou: “Una lang ‘yung appearance, e. What makes someone interested in you is the mind.” | Thamara: “I think it’s very important for you to keep yourself intact and to put your happiness first. It’s one thing to have a really nice body but it’s also another thing when you look really, genuinely happy. Nakikita ng ibang tao. I think it’s more priceless to me than actually just looking fit.” | Diana: “Stop trying to fit yourself into the mold that society created for us. Kasi, it does not exist. Gawa-gawa lang natin ‘yun sa utak natin. Make your own mold!”Dix Perez

Luke Alford, Brent Manalo, Chico Alicaya, Argel Saycon, Paolo Gumabao, Lance Carr, Crismar Menchavez, and Ralph de Leon - Lance: “Don’t compare your body to other people’s bodies. Kung ano ‘yung katawan mo, mahalin mo na ‘yun. Okay lang magkaroon ng ‘fitspiration’ na tinatawag pero ‘wag naman umabot sa point sana na naiinggit na tayo, na-da-down na tayo, na-de-depress tayo dahil hindi natin kayang ma-achieve ‘yung mga ganu’ng katawan.” | Ralph: “One quote that I really live by is ‘Excellence is not an act; it’s a habit.’ So, for body positivity, every single day, you can work on it but it’s not always going to be a linear progression. It’s not always going up. You’re going to be going through ups and downs, so kailangan talaga ‘yung consistency, ‘yung habits mo, na-fo-form mo para ma-achieve ‘yung mga goals.”Dix Perez
