#MetroLovesJoshLia: Joshua Garcia And Julia Barretto Spread Love In The Historic Luneta Hotel
For Metro's June issue, their annual Philippine Fashion Issue, the magazine tapped four of the country’s favorite love teams to explore Manila's oldest landmarks, garbed in outfits by some of the best fashion designers in the country.
We cap off our love letters to Manila series with one more love team on the cover of our annual Philippine issue. #JoshLia spent the day at the historic Luneta Hotel. Both in designs by #Metrowear designer, #RajoLaurel, the couple brought a modern twist to the romanticism of the French Renaissance structure. #MetroLovesJoshLia Grab a copy of our #MetroJune2018 issue, as we celebrate the fashion and culture coming out of the Philippines! The fourth and last love team is JoshLia: Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto. JoshLia is one of the biggest romantic tandems on screen and offscreen, which became famous through the movie Vince & Kath & James in 2016. Because their dynamics obviously work, the public "shipped" them, and suddenly, there was clamor for JoshLia. Their fans got to see more reasons to love them in movies I Love You to the Stars and Back and Unexpectedly Yours; soon, they will further prove why JoshLia works as a love team via the upcoming Star Cinema movie, I Love You, Hater. Off-cam, Joshua and Julia continue to make people fall in love with their romantic relationship; they have undeniable love and genuine concern for their "Bubba" (their term of endearment) and passion for their craft, which they showed through these excerpts from their Metro interview:
Joshua: “Kailangan kong manuod ng maraming pelikula, mag-observe. Pagsamahin mo ang na-observe mo at nakita mo. Itong pagiging actor, natututo ka din personally. So habang tumatagal, habang natututo ka, mas nagiging mature ka.”
Julia: “What I like about working with Josh is that there’s teamwork in every scene. We really bring out the best in each other. There’s so much support. He’s just as passionate for his craft, just as I am.”
Joshua: “Gusto ko ’yung lambing n’ya sa akin. Very protective s’ya sa ’kin. Nararamdaman ko.”
Julia: “I believe in standing up for myself and the people I care about... I stand up for other people more than I do for myself. I can’t let the people I love get hurt... I always seem like the bad person because I’m protecting him. I’m not bad! Because he can’t defend himself, and I hate it. I keep telling him... Just fight for yourself, especially if you’re in the right.”
The JoshLia magic was captured as they spent a day in the historic Luneta Hotel, overlooking the romantic Luneta Park.
“I think it’s about time we reappreciate old Manila. This is about Pinoy heritage. We’re bragging about our city, our place... You have to appreciate what you have and make use of what you have” - Julia
