Miss Universe Philippines 2021's National Costume show beautifully combined fashion design, architecture, and music
Miss Universe Philippines 2021 presented their National Costume Competition on September 23, merging fashion design, architecture, and music in an almost 7-minute long spectacle.
Released via Empire Philippines' YouTube channel, Miss Universe Philippines 2021's National Costume show was divided into Luzon, NCR, Visayas, and Mindanao. As the 28 official delegates modeled their exquisite, intricate, and masterfully crafted costumes with the stunning Clark International Airport as their runway, a catchy and upbeat song titled "Kulay" by breakout P-pop group BGYO was playing in the background.
On the theme of this year's National Costume presentation, the Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) organization shared, "This year’s National Costume theme is a celebration of a bygone era of elegance and sophistication—the Manila Carnival Queens. They are the first Filipina beauty queens whose names are still remembered by historians and pageant aficionados. Their images wearing elaborate and intricate costumes live on in black and white photos. So we wanted to bring these back to life and imagine how they would have looked today."
Check out the gallery below to see the 28 remaining Miss Universe Philippines 2021 delegates in their national costumes by world-class Filipino designers, who interpreted the theme in modern, traditional, and avant-garde styles:
