Recently released by CineKo Productions, the trailer of Metro Manila Film Festival entry Family Matters trends across social media and is starting to be the talk of the town after amassing 17 million views across various platforms, including post shares in social media. The affective nature that it carries has a nationwide appeal that it continues to rack up records in terms of viewership.


The tearjerker film follows the story of a stroke-stricken father whose family members take turns in manning the caregiving department. As his condition worsens, his children and wife start to squabble among themselves as they try to adapt to the circumstances.

Top-billed by the country’s topnotch actors and actresses, the movie mirrors the reality of familial relationships. With a star-studded ensemble that will surely make you shed tears, the upcoming showcase unravels what a family is all about.


Directed by filmmaker Nuel Crisostomo Naval, the film stars showbiz veterans such as Noel Trinidad, Liza Lorena, Nonie Buencamino, Mylene Dizon, and Agot Isidro, and features stellar performances from JC Santos, James Blanco, and Nikki Valdez.

Predicated on this year’s theme “Balik Saya Sa MMFF 2022,” Family Matters is one of the official final eight films of the film festival. Among the qualifiers of the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival, apart from Family Matters, are Mikhail Red’s Deleter; Coco Martin’s Labyu With An Accent; Lester Dimaranan’s Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told; Joel Lamangan’s My Father, Myself; Shugo Praico’s Nananahimik Ang Gabi; Cathy Garcia-Molina’s Partners In Crime; and Paul Soriano’s The Teacher.
