Millions tune in to Tinseltown’s main night as household names and budding film bigwigs convene for an evening of honoring entertainment’s highest contributions. Held at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles, California this Monday morning (PST), the 95th Academy Awards a.k.a. Oscars 2023 transpired huge as nods were bestowed to the newest awardees of this year’s top awards.

Hosted by renowned host Jimmy Kimmel, who marks his third-time stint on the Oscars stage, the show’s performance slate includes musical numbers from music icons no less than Rihanna, whose track “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever landed the nominees roster for Best Original Song, and Lady Gaga, whose surprise reversal sent her supporters in frenzy. At first, it was announced that Gaga will not attend the annual filmmaking awards.

The singer-songwriter performed her newest Oscars-nominated single “Hold My Hand,” which is part of Top Gun: Maverick’s official soundtrack. Other performing artists were also present at the event such as Sofia Carson and Diane Warren for Tell It Like a Woman’s “Applause;” David Byrne, Stephanie Hsu, and Son Lux for Everything Everywhere All At Once’s “This Is a Life;” and Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava for RRR’s “Naatu Naatu.”

Leading the pack of hulking winners is directing duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, which was heralded as the prizewinner for the Best Picture league. The multiverse fantasy movie devoured a total of seven trophies and dominated this year’s Academy Awards with the titles Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Editing, and Best Original Screenplay.

Following the frontrunner is the period film All Quiet on the Western Front, which peaked at four statues: Best International Feature, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Original Score. The psychological drama The Whale finished third, snagging two cups in the Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Actor categories. Other prizes were split among singular awardees: Avatar: The Way of Water, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, RRR, Top Gun: Maverick, and Women Talking.
