Here's What Park Seo Jun Would Like To Tell His 18-Year-Old Self

This Hallyu star sure is an inspiration to many in more ways than one

Korean superstar Park Seo Jun returned to Manila for a fun meet with health and wellness brand IAM Worldwide last October 14. Before he headed to Araneta Coliseum for the event, he graced a press conference first, looking fresh in an all-white ensemble.

Although Park Seo Jun started his entertainment career later than his contemporaries, he has achieved remarkable success globally, thanks to K-dramas like Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016), Fight for My Way (2017), What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (2018), and Itaewon Class (2020), as well as films like the Midnight Runners (2017), The Divine Fury (2019), and recently, Dream and Concrete Utopia.

This caliber actor is making his much-anticipated Hollywood debut soon, too, as the American superhero film The Marvels will be in theaters in the United States on November 10. The character posters for the said film were just released, revealing the role of Park Seo Jun: Prince Yan, who in the comics gets married to Carol Danvers (played by Brie Larson).

In light of his recent achievements, in an interview with The Guardian, Park Seo Jun pondered, “I didn’t come from a wealthy family and we had to move around a lot as a result, but I was able to meet a lot of different people at school and that made me more mature. Some of my earliest memories from childhood are of me just trying to find my way, instead of memories of being happy all the time.”

With all the challenges he had to overcome, he’s grateful for the success he’s currently enjoying worldwide and for the love and support he’s been receiving from his fans. Looking back at what he had to go through to get to where he is now, we were curious about what he would like to tell his 18-year-old self. The 34-year-old actor told Metro.Style at the IAM Worldwide press conference, “Well, if I would remember myself during those years I was having a very hard time because I really had a vague future. But if I have the chance to give advice to my 18-year-old self, I would love to say that if you just do your best, everything will work out, however, even though everything would work out, I hope you will never lose your own self.”

This piece of advice is surely something that will resonate with his fans who come from different walks of life and age groups. At his fun meet event in Manila, his fans created a video message for him and told him, “Thank you for making our hearts filled with joy. Your talent, charisma, and kindness have won the hearts of the Filipinos. You effortlessly connect with us by inspiring all of us.”

In return, Park Seo Jun told his fans, “First of all, I’m really touched. To really think about it, I don’t think I’m that great of a person to be able to receive your love, but thank you very much for continuously and endlessly showing your love to me. So as my responsibility, I’ll try my best to also show you my love through my different works, and I’ll always do my best. Thank you.”
