Pia Wurtzbach Talks About Her Fiancé, Jeremy Jauncey
"We push each other to do more, to do better," the newly-engaged Pia tells us in a previous Metro.Style interview
On May 6, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach made her engagement to Scottish businessman Jeremy Jauncey Instagram-official.
Posting a reel of their recent getaway to the beautiful island of Amanpulo, Palawan, the beauty queen can be seen having the time of her life at the beach with a bouquet of flowers, showing her engagement ring! Pia captioned, “We found the perfect place to celebrate and tell you guys.”
Pia did not mention the exact date she and Jeremy got engaged, but the two have been dropping hints earlier in the week. Jeremy even posted a photo of himself enjoying a sunset drink and said, “Sunsets in the Philippines are better than anywhere else in the world. Especially at Amanpulo when you have something to celebrate.” To which Pia commented, “I love you baby.”
In case you didn’t know, Pia met Jeremy in London while she was vacationing to meet her mother. Pia’s family is based in London, while the founder and CEO of creative agency Beautiful Destinations lived in the city for 10 years before moving to New York.
“Umuwi ako nu’n para i-surprise ’yung Mama ko for her birthday. Tapos umuwi na rin ako ng Pilipinas after a few days tapos nakita niya ako. ’Yun ang maganda dun. Nakita niya ako,” Pia opened up in a vlog uploaded by photographer BJ Pascual last year. Since the two revealed they are a couple, many admired the captivating love story they share and how they’re such a perfect match.
This jetsetting couple was recently in Manila, as Pia was one of the hosts at Miss Universe Philippines 2022's coronation night. In an Instagram post of photos from the said event, Jeremy wrote a short message for Pia: "Always proud supporting you @piawurtzbach…raising your game again and again."
In a previous Metro.Style interview with Pia, she talked about what she loves about Jeremy:
"What I love about him is that, well, there are a lot of things. First of all, he is so open. He really loves the Filipino culture... He just loves my Pinoy ways. He finds them so endearing, like those little jokes like kilig. What I love about him is that he asks me a lot of questions about the Philippines, about Filipino culture, like he's eager to know more about it and to learn more about it. Hindi ko na-fi-feel na kailangan ko itago or i-tone down 'yung pagiging Pinay ko.
"I can just be my natural self around him... He's not trying to change me, like he appreciates me for who I am and that's what I love [about him]
"With travelling, he’s the guy, like sasakay nalang ako sa eroplano, siya na bahala. That’s what I love about him, because he will plan everything, whereas before I used to do all the planning myself, like if I’m traveling, I’m doing all the thinking, planning the itinerary, planning the schedule, but with him, he’s doing everything, and he does it so well. I mean, of course, that’s his thing ’diba? So, I don’t have to think anymore, I love it.
"He is such an explorer, like he loves walking everywhere, he never wants to take a car, he never wants to commute. He likes to walk. So, we just watch everywhere, we just love exploring. We love getting lost, sometimes we don’t even know where we’re going, so we just walk. Even when we’re not in a destination, kahit nasa UK lang kami, we just love walking around. That’s what I love about him. There’s never a dull moment because he’s such an explorer and a curious mind that he just wants to go out there and see what’s out there and find out and learn."
"We’re both very driven so we motivate each other to keep on going and to keep working. We get really excited when one of us has a new achievement. So kunwari may kwento ako sa kanya na 'Oh babe, guess what I did today?' or 'Guess what happened?' and then that gets him really excited, like I really feel, like I see it in his eyes and in his face that he’s so proud of me and I never had that before. Para kang bata na meron kang mataas na grade sa report card mo tapos excited kang magkwento na 'Ma, tingnan mo ito.' Tapos ‘yung imi-meet niya 'yung level of excitement mo na parang 'Oh my gosh, that’s amazing. Congratulations, that’s great.' Tapos siyempre mas ganado ka, mas matutuwa ka 'diba? That’s how we are with each other, like he’s very proud of me whenever I have achievements, big or small, and I’m also very proud of him whenever he has achievements of his own also. So, in a way, ang ganda kasi we push each other to do more, to do better.
"I’m such a learner too. I really am a student of life and I love asking questions and I love that with him, I am able to ask so many questions and he has answers to all of it, like I love it. I always [ask], 'Babe, with WWF [World Wide Fund for Nature], how do you do this and that, how did you learn, what should I do, what should I focus on?' Then he would just give so much advice on that.
"Also with regards to business kasi, what I’m trying to do now is I’m trying to slowly transition from being a beauty queen or celebrity to being an entrepreneur and then he’s also been teaching me so much about that because he’s been working since he was I think 22 (22 or 21), mga ganun... He started his own businesses already and so I’ve been learning so much from him because I didn’t go to school for it, so I didn’t have any experience. But he’s been so generous with his knowledge and just teaching me everything that I need to know so that I don’t make any mistakes along the way.
"It’s so nice because our relationship has so many layers to it. He’s my best friend and he’s also my boyfriend, of course. He is my travel buddy. He is my food trip buddy. Nagfu-food trip din kami. He is also my teacher, my mentor and he’s also my bro. So many layers!"
