Pia Wurtzbach may have won Miss Universe back in 2015 yet she continues to inspire everyone with her beauty and strength. Amid the pandemic in 2021, it took a lot of strength for her to talk about her struggles growing up, as well as leading to and during her reign as Miss Universe in 2015 on her YouTube channel.

It was the first time Pia opened up about her mental health struggles in public because she wanted to paint a picture not of a perfect beauty queen, but of a real person with real-life experiences. There's no shame in admitting that you aren't perfect and there's no shame in admitting that you need help.

'I was determined to stay strong, to continue my mission, my purpose, and to turn things around,' she said. 'I wanted to face my demons and finally take care of my heart, something which I didn't do or never cared to do.'

This was the topic of the talk when Pia was launched again as the face of Ultherapy® at The Shangri-La at the Fort Hotel last September 8, 2022, alongside introducing their new campaign #ALL IT TAKES IS U which focuses on overall confidence. Hosted by Issa Litton, Pia shared the stage with Dr. Ed Tolentino, FPPS and board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Irene Gaile Robredo-Vitas.

Reunited again as the 2022 ambassador for Ultherapy®, Pia shared what it took for her to overcome those challenges. Psychiatrist Dr. Ed Tolentino shared a more current perspective, how these challenges have been amplified with the pandemic and how people can help themselves to find ways to cope–one of which is self-care.

'I learned better ways to cope. I learned healthier ways to cope with it, but this is how I described it: everyday, there's a good voice and a bad voice, but the good voice wins; so, you win,' Pia said. 'But then, during the pandemic, you're put in a position where you're not able to practice all of these healthy habits that you've learned. You're not able to socialize. Socializing also really helps, keeping yourself busy with the things that you love, that you're passionate about, your work.'

Later, Pia summed up what makes her confidently 'beYOUtiful,' saying, 'My fighting spirit is what makes me want to be beYOUtiful. I always try to be better than I was yesterday in anything that I do. I don't give up because confidence is beauty.'

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Irene Gaile Robredo-Vitas shared that she sees a lot of this with her patients. When they’re stressed or want to relax, they go and get some me-time. What’s important is that they see and feel the difference of the treatments they get. That’s why they keep on going back for Ultherapy®.

With more than 2 million treatments worldwide with over 95% patient satisfaction one year after treatment rating, Ultherapy® is the only non-invasive ultrasound treatment that allows you to SEE below the skin’s surface, promoting safe and effective treatments. That is why Ultherapy® remains to be the Gold Standard in skin lifting and tightening on the brows, chin, and neck areas, and improve lines on the décolletage.

Merz Philippines General Manager, Jorge Libanan, also shared the first ever aesthetic app in the Philippines, the Merz Aesthetic Serendipity Journey or MASJ MYSELF app (available for download in IOS and Google Play), proving how the company continues to be driven by our purpose: To fuel confidence and help Filipinos look better, feel better and live better, now at your fingertips.
