EXCLUSIVE: What To Expect After Winning A Binibini Crown, According To Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach
The Binibining Pilipinas 2019 coronation night is fast approaching and with 40 candidates vying for the crown, standing out won’t be a piece of cake—that’s why it’s important for them to build up all the confidence they need before the competition.
Take it from Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach who believes confidence plays a big role in one’s success. As her famous line goes, "Confidently beautiful with a heart." "You need some sort of confidence to be able to live out your dreams, and when you live out your dreams, no matter how big or small, that’s success,” she said at the press conference of "The Universe Gives Back," a benefit gala she’s leading on June 4 along with reigning Miss Universe Catriona Gray. “When you have little goals na na-tick off mo, you gain more confidence and trust in yourself na ‘Uy, kaya ko pala ito’ then on to the next one, then nagawa mo siya, then ‘Yes, kaya ko pa.’”
The beauty queen likened such process to a stair climb. “Hindi mo naman kailangang mag-one big leap. It’s just baby steps and getting up there. I really think confidence and success go hand-in-hand,” she stressed. “With every little success comes confidence and you start building and building it until you get to the very top.”
One thing aspiring beauty queens can expect after being crowned Binibini, Pia says, is how much their lives are going to change. “It’s a full-time job. For me, there’s no rest and I don’t mean it in a bad way. It has no on and off switch. You have to decide: do you want to be a Binibini or not? If you decide to be a Binibini, you’re going to have to be a Binibini forever,” the actress declares. “Win or lose, the lessons you learn as a Binibini, you carry with you in life. Even if you don’t win, nagbago ka na as a woman—and even more so if you do win.”
"The Universe Gives Back" benefit gala on June 4 will feature creations by top Filipino designers like Albert Andrada, Rhett Eala, Michael Leyva, Ito Curata, Jot Losa, Avel Bacudio, Cherry Veric, and Martin Bautista. Their designs will be modeled by the current candidates of Miss Universe and Binibining Pilipinas. The beneficiaries were chosen by Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray: Love Yourself (which promotes self-love and equality as well as HIV/AIDS awareness) and Young Focus (which helps provide education for underprivileged children in the Philippines.
