Bollywood's Best Meets Hollywood Royalty In Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas' Pre-Wedding Celebrations
A kaleidoscope of the entertainment industry's brightest stars has started to make its way to India—Priyanka Chopra's first home, and the country whose enchanting beauty will soon be the background of her grand nuptials.
The big day is but a few sunrises and sunsets away, and for newlyweds-to-be Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, it couldn't come any sooner.
Rumored to be preparing for two ceremonies scheduled on December 2 and 3 (a traditional Hindu ceremony will precede a Christian wedding), the couple in love has just welcomed the bride's older brother and fellow singer Joe Jonas and his fiancée Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner to India. The high-profile faces made their way to Mumbai just a few hours ago as of this writing and was greeted by a wave of paparazzi before driving off to their destination.
Frankie Jonas, (the three Jonas brothers' youngest sibling), has likewise touched down in India, while Priyanka's bridesmaids Anjula Acharia and Mubina Rattonsey have continued to help her with all things wedding-related.
Choosing to keep their wedding preparations low-key and a secret from the public, all that Priyanka and Nick have chosen to reveal was how they celebrated Thanksgiving last Thursday in an upscale Australian restaurant in New Delhi; the lavish meal was shared with friends and family members who were photographed seated at a long table with Nick at its head.
The quintessential American celebration brings the couple one step closer to become Mr. and Mrs. Jonas, with a mehndi ceremony and sangeet party reportedly to follow soon. (A mendhi is when the bride traditionally receives her henna tattoos before her wedding, while a sangeet is a typical pre-wedding celebration in Hindu tradition that sees the bride and groom as well their guests enjoy an evening of lively musical and dance performances. Nick is believed to be preparing to sing a medley of his hits, while Priyanka might be in the process of memorizing dance steps to some of Bollywood's biggest hits!).
Lastly, a haldi ceremony will be one of the lasts rites of passage that the couple is expected to go through before officially tying the knot; the event that sees the symbolic application of oils, water, and turmeric on both the bride and groom is meant to bless their union.
As another send-off to married life for Priyanka, the Indian actress' colleagues from Hindi film The Sky is Pink prepared a cake for her onset that she was surprised with just a few days ago. The chocolate cake's dedication reads, "Congratulations to our dear bride to be P.C.J."
