Look! Seo Ye-Ji In A Poster For Her K-Drama Comeback, "Eve"
After the controversy about her past relationship, Seo Ye-ji returns to acting in this upcoming passionate revenge melodrama
Seo Ye-ji's K-drama comeback is finally happening through the tvN series Eve, which is described as a high-quality, passionate, revenge melodrama. The 32-year-old actress looks stunning (with her famous ant waist) and mysterious in the first poster released for the show.
In the series, Seo Ye-ji takes on the role of Lee Rae-el, the daughter of a chaebol family, who will be at the center of a ₩2 trillion divorce lawsuit that shocks the entire nation. Witnessing the murder of her father when she was a child, Lee Rae-el has made it her mission to avenge her father's death. Also starring in the series are Lee Sang-yeob, Park Byung-eun, and Yoo Sun. Eve is scheduled to be released this coming May 25.
In April last year, Seo Ye-ji was embroiled in controversy about her past relationship with fellow actor Kim Jung-hyun; a Dispatch report, containing screenshots of text messages between the ex-lovers, alleged that she was manipulative of her former boyfriend.
At the time the scandal surfaced, the actress, who gained popularity for the 2020 K-drama It's Okay to Not Be Okay (IOTNBO), was in the middle of promoting her mystery/thriller movie Recalled. As a result, Seo Ye-ji skipped the movie promotions, and the following month, she didn't attend the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards ceremony where she was nominated as Best Actress (TV) for IOTNBO and given the TikTok Popularity Award.
Her agency, Gold Medalist, addressed the issue by releasing an official statement. Seo Ye-ji stayed silent and went on a hiatus, dropping out of the K-drama Island. Finally, on February 27, 2022, she spoke up about the controversy and released a formal apology: "Hello, this is Seo Ye Ji. First, I sincerely apologize for the fact that I’m conveying my feelings so late through these written words. Seeing all of the reproach and the many things that have been said about me, I have been taking time to reflect on myself up until now. I would like to sincerely apologize for making many people uncomfortable due to my shortcomings. Once again, I sincerely bow my head and apologize for the fact that I have disappointed you greatly. All of this stemmed from my immaturity, and I will work hard to behave more carefully in the future and show you a more mature version of myself."
Her first public appearance after the scandal was through a script reading for Eve that took place a few days before she came out with her formal apology.
Seo Ye-ji celebrated her birthday last April 6, and her agency released photos of her with the gifts she received from her fans.
Eve marks Seo Ye-ji's first small-screen project in two years, her last K-drama being tvN's It's Okay to Not Be Okay. The actress is also known for K-dramas Save Me and Lawless Lawyer.
