When the world seemed to have paused and most, if not all of us, around the world were confined in our homes, I have found joy from seeing Kim Seon Ho's genuine smile on my TV screen.

It was around October 2020, the height of the pandemic when all things around me felt mundane. I turned on my TV after a long day of working from home to unwind. The local news TV channel was reporting that the number of daily COVID-19 cases in South Korea remained at high levels, and that did not help with my glum mood at the time. So, I switched to another channel and came across the Korean series Start-Up, which is about people in the world of startup companies.

As someone in the corporate world in Seoul, I could relate to the theme of the series, and so I got hooked on Start-Up in an instant. But what got my eyes glued to the screen was Kim Seon Ho, who played the role of Han Ji Pyeong, a team leader in SH Venture Capital with impressive investment skills and one of the two love interests of the female lead, Seo Dal-Mi (played by Bae Suzy).

Aside from admittedly being smitten by Kim Seon Ho's visuals, I got inspired by his character in the series, knowing that Han Ji Pyeong worked his way up to success. From then on I have started to binge-watch Kim Seon Ho's previous and succeeding series including Hometown Cha Cha Cha, attended his theater plays and went to all of his fanmeetings and fansign events here in Korea and abroad to date (Manila, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, and Indonesia).

Looking back, I've come to realize that I've been a 'Seonhohada'一fan of Kim Seon Ho一for three years now, and I feel proud to be supporting an actor that is good inside out. What I like most about Kim Seon Ho is his big heart, which has been evident in his philanthropic acts; he donated the proceeds from his very first fanmeeting, his first ever Season's Greetings and even the ones from his recent Photo Exhibit, to name a few. This continues to inspire not only me, but also my fellow Seonhohadas to be generous and kind as a person even in our own little ways.

It's also amazing how Kim Seon Ho, with his strong passion for his craft and motivational charisma, gathers us Seonhohadas together from different backgrounds and countries. Having been part of different fandoms, it feels good to realize that I have been at my happiest point interacting and sharing the love for Kim Seon Ho with people in the Seonhohada community.

It also astonishes me how far Kim Seon Ho has come, that the actor we are supporting is now a movie actor, with him debuting in the newly-released movie The Childe [check out my movie review here].

Knowing the usual promotion activities for new movies here in Korea, I have been highly looking forward to the stage greeting and GV (Guest Visit) Talk events for The Childe. Stage greeting events are [normally] ten-minute sessions prior to or after every movie screening schedule, where the lead cast and the director of a film visit select cinemas to greet and thank the viewers for supporting the movie. Meanwhile, GV Talk events are hour-long events after a certain movie screening where the lead cast and director sit to answer questions from the audience about the film.

I am happy that I was able to see and support Kim Seon Ho at The Childe stage greeting and GV Talk events in various cinemas here in Seoul, and even in cities outside of Seoul such as Suwon, Busan, and Daegu. In these stage greeting events, I was able to witness Kim Seon Ho's dedication to his acting career, by hearing the sincere thoughts he shared with us about his experiences in filming The Childe.

For one, Kim Seon Ho mentioned that his role in the movie is very interesting and unique, and that he put a lot of effort preparing for it. He continued to demonstrate his appreciation for his fans in these stage greeting events by being warm in responding to his fans' cheers and willingly receiving heartwarming gifts. I am happy to share that in one of the stage greeting events where I was seated in the front row, he handpicked me as the recipient of their giveaway by saying that he wanted to give the postcard with his ink-signed autograph to me. At that time, I couldn't seem to comprehend what was happening at all; it sure felt like a dream, that Kim Seon Ho was pointing at me, asking me to stand up and receive the signed postcard. It was definitely one of my best experiences as a Seonhohada.

Along with my attendance to these stage greetings, during the promotion period for The Childe, I also feel fortunate to have won raffle events from the brands that Kim Seon Ho endorses. I got exclusive advanced movie premiere passes and access to a VIP stage greeting event with him.

Indeed, I can say that one of my best life decisions is becoming a Seonhohada, knowing that my idol is worth supporting, and I know that I will continue to support him as he reaches more milestones in his career.

In fact, as I am writing this, I am preparing for a flight to Japan to attend Kim Seon Ho's concert, which is another first for him. I am also excited to be visiting home, Manila, later this month to attend his second fanmeeting with Bench there. I wish Kim Seon Ho continued success and hoping for him to achieve greater things in life as he truly deserves all the good things coming to him.
