Affected? Not At All—Sharon Cuneta Shuts Down Bashers Of Her PBA Muse Appointment
“They don’t mean anything to me because I am the one that’s here," said the Megastar.
What Sharon Cuneta's bashers hoped would become an embarrassing situation for her turned into another opportunity for the seasoned singer and actress to prove her unflinching confidence.
The 53-year-old, who was handpicked to become basketball team Magnolia Hotshots' muse for 2019, faced scrutiny online from individuals who thought that she was an unusual choice. They pointed out that most teams often choose younger and more slender women to accompany them during the PBA's annual opening ceremony, describing Sharon as the odd man out.
However, despite standing alongside other muses like beauty queens Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa, actresses Sam Pinto and Yam Concepcion, and athletes Alyssa Valdez, Jasmine Alkhaldi, Myla Pablo, this Metro.Style cover girl was proud and happy to be there—with zero signs of affectedness from the negative comments!
It probably also helped that the role was something she was already familiar with. Unknown to many, this wasn't Sharon's first time to be a part of one of the PBA's most fun events; she was the Purefoods team's muse in 1990, when basketball legends Alvin Patrimonio, Jerry Codiñera, and Jojo Lastimosa were at the forefront of the sport.
Enjoying herself throughout the occasion, Sharon eventually addressed the issue with her own thoughts, earning collective approval from her biggest fans.
She said, "They don’t mean anything to me because I am the one that’s here. I was chosen by Magnolia. I did not volunteer. I am their major endorser so I think it’s understandable.”
Now that is how you deal with haters!
