5 Reasons We're Shipping Zendaya And Tom Holland, Hollywood's Newest Reel-To-Real Romance
Hopefully, they'll be the "third time's the charm" "Spider-Man" couple
Our spidey senses are on high alert.
Peter Parker might be a master of disguise and mystery, but Tom Holland can't deny the very obvious kiss he shared with his Spider-Man co-star Zendaya caught on camera!
Last week, photos showing Zendaya and Tom Holland cruising around the city in his car surfaced, and the two were photographed doing more than just choosing a Spotify playlist or talking about their days. To most people, this confirms the rumors that have hovered over the young stars for years, but to others, photos aren't enough until either of them makes an official statement.
If the rumors prove to be true, we're fully supportive of these two (any ideas for a couple hashtag are welcome) because of how good they seem to be for each other.
Whether or not they're just best buds or Hollywood's newest reel-to-real couple, we list five reasons we ship this pair below!
They started out as besties.
It's no secret that a lot of romances, no matter how "perfect," fizzle out as quickly as they started because they're built on infatuation and lack the substance to help them last.
Lucky for Zendaya and Tom Holland, they literally have years of shared experiences and a pretty solid friendship to back up their relationship that's possibly moved on to more romantic territory. The pair met five years ago when they were promoting Spider-Man: Homecoming, and after getting to know each other on set and in their downtime, they discovered that they could legitimately be Peter Parker and MJ Jones in real life.
They reportedly spent a ton of their days off during filming together, going out on (then friendly) dates in restaurants and just hanging out, enjoying each other's company. They took it slow, and we'll be the first to tell you the wait was worth it!
He's earned the parental stamp of approval.
A couple can get along great and it's easy to say no one else's approval of your relationship matters, but it does make things sweeter if people close to you approve!
Such is the case for these potential love birds who, way back in 2017, showed up at Zendaya's parents for her to introduce her movie bud to mom and dad. Reports say he absolutely nailed the introduction, and they loved him! (Who wouldn't, really?).
In fact, that's supposedly what Zendaya and Tom were up to when the paparazzi spotted them spending time together; they were hanging out with Zendaya's mom in her neighborhood, possibly ending a day of family time.
They bring out the best in each other.
It's always a good sign when a fresh romance makes the people involved in it better. According to people who've seen Zendaya and Tom together on set and just having a grand old time together in their free time, the two are a sight of total happiness and satisfaction. They've got the kind of bond that lets them be comfortable and authentic, and they're really in it for each other, and not to make a Hollywood spectacle of themselves.
They also get along with everybody, earning them the support of whoever has the awesome chance to encounter them. Individually, both Zendaya and Tom are known to be easygoing characters at work and low-key celebrities (despite their insane level of fame evidenced by 99.9 and 45.3 million followers each on Instagram, respectively), and together, they amplify all that's admirable about both of them.
They're aware of the challenges of dating in Hollywood.
If Zendaya and Tom are indeed a couple (they haven't publicly acknowledged the latest bout of rumors!), they did an impressively good job at keeping things a secret—for their own good, at that.
In past interviews about their romantic lives, both of them have highlighted the difficulties of being young stars and living life in front of the public eye. Privacy is the cost of their worldwide fame, which means falling in love is something everyone is in on.
In an interview with People Magazine that touched on relationships, Tom himself was quoted for saying "It's very nerve-racking. It means that if you are dating someone, you have to be really conscious of their feelings, because if something does happen between the two of you, it's not just happening between the two of you, it's happening in front of the entire world... It's one of the things I worry about most, of all the things in my career."
Hopefully, they'll be the "third time's the charm" Spider-Man couple.
The first two couples didn't end up together obviously, but we have our hopes high for our current Spider-Man couple. With their chemistry though, it wouldn't be such a bad thing if they weren't strictly romantically involved and are indeed as they've called each other countless of times in media events and interviews—best friends.
These days, it's just as important to find a best buddy who gets you all the way through as it is to find a romantic partner. It looks like they're good for each other no matter their friendship/relationship status, and we're all for it!
