EXCLUSIVE: Star Magic Artists Talk About Their "Lockdown Portraits" In Metro Channel's Special
Liza Soberano, Kim Chiu, Maymay Entrata, Jane de Leon, and more of our favorite celebrities share what they’ve been doing this quarantine and how they came up with their lockdown portraits for this year’s Star Magic Catalogue
In case you missed it, last month, Star Magic released a digital version of its annual Star Magic Catalogue called "Love from Home: Lockdown Portraits." The concept is different this time, though, considering the quarantine due to COVID-19. The online photo collection features DIY photo shoots by the Star Magic artists. The photos are raw and creative, as they were produced and shot by these Kapamilya stars themselves from the comforts of their own homes.
The goal of the campaign is to spread positivity and inspire Filipinos to find the simplest joys at home. Maybe it’s about spending quality time with your loved ones, knowing more about yourself, discovering new hobbies, or sharing what you have with those who are in need during the pandemic—hold on to whatever it may be that sparks joy in your life now.
In a special feature produced by Metro Channel, we will get to know the stories behind some of these celebrities' lockdown portraits for the “Love from Home” campaign. Plus, the stars—like Liza Soberano, Kim Chiu, Maymay Entrata, and Jane de Leon—also share what they’ve been up to during the quarantine.

“Home is where the heart is,” Liza says when asked what home means to her. Liza has been very busy for the past years, thanks to the success of her career and loveteam with Enrique Gil (LizQuen), so she is enjoying these moments she gets to spend with her family at home.

With a lot of time on her hands these days, she also started cooking again and experimenting more in the kitchen. Liza shares, “The quarantine made me realize and appreciate my friends a little bit more.” She has taken this opportunity to reconnect with her childhood friends and work out together remotely.

Her portraits for the “Love From Home” campaign were shot by her boyfriend and love team partner, Enrique. The ’90s-themed shoot was produced by Liza herself, who, at the beginning, tried to take the photos using a camera on self-timer. In the end, she's grateful that she had the help of Enrique to nail the shots.

“I realized that we need to spend time with our loved ones,” says Jane about her lockdown experience. Ever since Jane was revealed to be the next Darna, her schedule has been packed, taking her away from her family. Now, she gets to spend time with them again, and she's very grateful they’re all at home safe and sound.

Apart from staying at home, Kim has also been busy with supporting donation drives for the less fortunate. In June, she was able to raise enough funds to give food packages to 1,500 families and Php300,000 for mass testing, thanks to her "Bawal Lumabas" merch. She says that during these times, “We only have each other. If you have more than enough, why not help?”

Kim has been part of the Star Magic family ever since she became the Big Winner of "Pinoy Big Brother" (PBB) and for her, Star Magic and ABS-CBN have already become like her second home. Kim says, “It’s a place where you grow and experience love from the people inside that home.” In this photo, Kim is with Laurenti Dyogi, PBB's head director.

Just like Kim, Maymay’s rise to fame started when she emerged as the Big Winner of "Pinoy Big Brother." And since then, she has been blessed with many opportunities and projects, and her schedule was so packed with showbiz-related activities. Now, Maymay is happy about the chance to reconnect with her family, saying, “Ang tahanan ay kung saan p'wede mong mapakita kung sino ka… And kung nagbabago ka or na-o-overwhelm ka, ’yung tahanan ’yung magre-remind sa’yo sa kung sino ka talaga at ’yung totoong pagkatao mo.”

Maymay’s photographs for the “Love From Home” campaign are very simple and straightforward, showcasing how humble and simple she is as a person. Talking about her experience shooting the portraits, she says that she has found a brand new respect and appreciation for the people who help her in photo shoots and commercials. She says, “Mas na-appreciate ko ’yung effort nu'ng photographer at mga gumagawa ng konsepto—sakit pala talaga sa ulo!”
